Who cares if it's not even USB 5.0, most of these generic USB drives can't even read and write above 20MB/s. Or they barely do that. The fastest drives do 35MB/s in both directions and USB 2.0 is way more than just enough.

i have a mechanical drive which does 50MB/s on E-sata/Sata, but can only do 20-25MB/s on USB 2.0.

are those flash drives really that slow, or are they that slow BECAUSE of USB2.0?

Exactly...

And even the ones that REALLY are that slow - are only using shit slow garbage chips BECAUSE they can get away with it on USB2.

Chips 5 times that speed have been around for years already and are ONLY expensive because of low sales rates which are CAUSED by ppl still accepting paying for the older cheaper junk.

We are getting screwed by being sold 5 years old inferior junk so these chip fab's who over mass-produced the damn things by the ton, years ago, can clear their warehouses.

Bugger these buggers I say!

USB3 or GTFO!
