Since November 19th, North Americans have bought over 600,000 units of the Nintendo Wii. This translates to roughly $190 million (£98.2/€144.8 million) in sales according to Nintendo. "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" is the most popular Wii game, tallying 454,000 sales (enough for 3/4 Wii owners to have a copy). The Wii goes on sale in Japan this coming Saturday, and it will arrive in Europe on December 8th.

...sony trying to create and artificial demand for its vastly exspensive offering...

I am really tired of people saying this. When you look at the Wii hardware you understand why it is only $250 to sell. It is litterally gamecube parts shrunk down, overclocked, and put in a tiny case. Their biggest R&D expense was designing the controller(which we will still have see if it will succeed, I have a Wii, and I can say I am already missing having a real controller, the controller gets real gimmicky real fast).

On the other hand you have the Xbox360, which if you want to get all the features on it as you do with a PS3 you have to spend at least $100 more(or at least most of the features, some features simply are impossible to add). If any company should be blaimed for having an overly priced system it is Microsoft, not Sony.

Especially when you look at exactly how much hardware and power is in the PS3. The GameCubev2 isn't even in the same arena in terms of raw power or features as the Xbox360 and PS3, and the Xbox360 falls drasticly behind the cheaper PS3 in terms of features.

People just see the $600 price tag on the Premium PS3 console and label it expensive, but it is like comparing a $70,000 505HP Corvette w/ every option to a $60,000 500HP Mustang w/ no options and $80,000 w/ some options to a $30,000 250HP G6 w/ a few options.

Are you going to have fun with either of the three? Yes, loads, no matter which one you pick. Playing games on any one of the three is going to be fun. However, what you can do when you are not gaming and the enhancements while you are gaming are certainly there on the more expensive consoles, which is why they are more expensive.

Also, Sony can not create an artificial demand. The amount of demand for a console is controlled by the public, nothing Sony can do will create artificial demand. Sony sees no extra money from not selling consoles to people that want them. They aren't purposely limiting supply.

Youve just answered the question I raised in a previous post "how long before Wii owners get tired of the Wii-mote?"

And the answer seems to be.....not very long!

PC > any console. Come on, the 8800 beats them already. If you want the best performance, get a PC. If you want a cheap console that plays everything well get a 360. If you want the cheapest console there is get a Wii. I'm going to get one, and the games I will be starting with are Zelda and Red Steel.

I suggest you wait until they drop the Wii in price a little.
I think even $250 is a little too much for the Wii.
I cant think to spend over $250 for a console that is inferior to my computer.
Its kind of like throwing money away.

I dont agree with this statement because here in the UK the 'Core' XBOX360 system (no HDD, composite video cable and wired controller) is about £200 and the 'Premium' XBOX360 system (20GB HDD, component HD cable and wireless contoller) is about £70 more.

Im sure that when the PS3 is finally released in the UK it will be about £450 for the 40GB version (I think thats the lower package)

I'm actually going to agree with everything newtekie just said. As much as I hate to admit it, Nintendo has produced a gimmicky gamecube version 1.5

The wiimote gets old, quickly.

Well I don't know about the prices in the UK, but in America it goes like this:

PS3 Premium Package is $600. To get close to the same thing with the Xbox360, you have to buy the premium package($400), the HD-DVD player($200), and the Wireless adaptor($100). Then, on top of that, the PS3 would have a 60GB hard drive, while the Xbox360 only has a 20GB. Also the PS3 has HDMI, while the Xbox360 only has Component. So in the end you are paying $100 more for the Xbox360, and are getting less.

Quick note newtekie1, the Xbox360 Premium is only $400, not $500 :).

Typo, my math adds up correctly though, it is $100 more for the Xbox360 setup(as per my original post).

Over Priced? Everything about the xbox360 is more powerful than the PS3 except for Floating Point processing. (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html)

The video card in my PC costs more than my Deluxe 360. For an extra $200, you get the add on HD DVD drive, which blows the PS3's blu-ray drive out of the water. noob.

i say the best console atm is the x360, the year head start gave it the edge on gaming title and cheaper hardware...and the future gaming titles for this system is the most demanded.

The troll isn't even worth my time.
That's because you know that 400 + 200 is a good value considering what you get. You won't find anything as powerful as the 360 for $400... add on the HD DVD drive and the Wi-Fi for an extra 300, and you still can't beat the 360 in power for the price. None of the consoles are overpriced... not even the Wii.

I can beat you in 3 characters P S 3. It IS more powerful then the Xbox360, has more features, and is cheaper. End of discussion. Now go troll somewhere else.

Nah, that is all I am going to say, no long drawn out arguments, just putting the guy in his place and leaving it be, hence the "End of discussion".
