Xigmatek unveiled its newest CPU cooler targeted at value-conscious gamers, the LOKI SD963. Its conventionally-shaped tower heatsink measures 92 x 50 x 134 mm (W x H x D), weighing 330 g. It uses a dense aluminum fin array that channels air (it's blocked on its narrow sides). Three 6 mm thick copper heat pipes make direct contact with the CPU at the base. A 92 mm fan that spins at 1200~2800 rpm with a noise output of 20~28 dBA is bundled, though the heatsink is designed with provision for a second (pull) fan. Vibration-dampening rubber bolts hold the fan and the heatsink together. All current CPU socket types are supported, including LGA1366, LGA1156, AM3/AM2(+), and LGA775. The company did not reveal pricing, though one can expect it to be on the lower side.

The specs seem to be in the zone of my very own Arctic Cooler Freezer... could be good for a C2D at speeds up to 3.8 GHz (if you like temps in the plus 75C zone on load)... but I wouldn't put this on a overclocked quad, ever...

Did you miss the spot where btarunr quoted that it is infact a low budget cooler :p therefore probably never was ever men't to be for a high end overclocked chip. :)

Nah, it's just that there's LGA 1366 mentioned too... and the target are gamers...

I''d really consider testing it on my rig using the push/pull combination.

True, but obviously it must be efficient enough for them to say it can do it upon release, it is not designed for hardcore overclockers, that being said though it does allow fitting for a second 92mm fan for a push/pull combo... now surely that's got to add some gains too :)

This just seems to be a mounting update of the S963, which is nice. When I was looking for a cooler for my friend I was concerned about height (turned out not to be an issue) so I looked up the best short tower I could find and this seemed to be it. I recall the reviews at the time putting it pretty damn close to a 1283. It can handle quads just fine.

PS: i like stock cooler better...even with unbearable noise...but hey it's free!

I suspect you'll be able to spend an extra $10 and have a much beefier cooler. Seems like a no-brainer.

Really... look's different to me! ;)

As said in the opening post... BUDGET CPU COOLER!

I'd even class my S1283 as a budget cooler and yet it performs amazingly well!

Just because it's a budget cooler only mean's it's cheap, doesn't always mean it isn't going to be any good, for example, would you rather spend an extra 10 - 15 maybe more on top of what you'd pay for this particular cooler for something already called a "high end cooler" or would you just prefer to spend a 3 - 5 bucks on an extra fan and have the push/pull combo? which is no slouch, been proven in many different setups. rant over. :)

XIGMATEK makes some good cpu heatsinks, ever since i got phenom II 940 i paired it with XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 92mm cooler $27.99, works very good for me, cpu has been clocked at 3.6ghz for most of its life, and temps stay close to 60c , btw this one catches my attention because of its 8mm pipes , would love to experiment with those

+1 to xgiys great price/performance.
I had a 1283 and it done really well, just it didn't have the right aesthetics for a a side panelled system IMO, can't remember what I got after it, probs the domino ALC.

+1 I found it very hard to see my S1283 look okay in any of the cases I've had, but in all honestly it's suiting this (NZXT) Beta EVO quite well and almost look's like it should be there
