That's a pretty ambition price tag. For Zalman's sake this thing better be one helluva cooler, it certainly does look the part.

This bring up a past thought, i keep wondering what cooler uses what type of heatpipe but there is usually no information on the subject with most heatsinks.

I still like the look of the zalman coolers but they never seam to be able to come close to tower coolers in performance, i always wished they would find a way to add some more heat pipies or bigger ones.
Hopefully better heatpipes will help but i dont really expect this to be that great a cooler still.

The main problem is that they basically only use 2 heatpipes where other companies use (usually) 4 heatpipes in a U shape, meaning they have higher heat conductivity. It makes me wonder how would these composite heatpipes work in other high performance tower coolers...

I agree, i wonder how something like the prolimatech megahalems would do with more efficiant heatpipes, really i think it's almost the only way to improve it.

I really like the look of Zalman coolers, but dislike handling them, I've cut my fingers too many times on those fins. It's like a paper cut, but worse... Much worse.

There fans are pretty dam good which is partly due to not having a shell ?. around them which gets rid of a lot of possible noise.

Problem is with them is that they glue them together.

Indeed it has 3. Looks like they have 1 in front and 2 behind the fan where the most pressure is.

I have a megashadow and it would prolly trounce this even more. (with more efficiant pipes like u say) "All in one solutions" never do come too close. Sure some are impressive like zerotherm Nirvana But there newest stand alone from there own company SMOKES IT. They'd never do that with a "serious" solution (all in one that is) cause they know people who "get serious" want there own fans ect. This will be version 3 or 4 of this same fan design (if I'm correct) I'm sure it'll have some improvement cause it has SO much room between itself and something like megahalems to do so. (lets hope with the same noise level or better)

What i meant was if the megahalems had better heat pipes how much better could it be, not relative to this as it is not even in the same league, i was thinking more along the lines if compaired to it's current form and any other massive tower coolers.
I don't know what type of heatpipe internal it uses but if there is better ones than is currently used on it then surly with better ones it would easly be the best performing air cooler available without doubt, it's pretty much there already though.

I have owned coolers in this style before. None of them have come close to beating the Thermalright True 120 coolers or Hyper 212+ coolers or most recently the Zerotherm ZT-10D (Which I should add is the hidden gem out there right now which know one is picking up on. I find the cooling capabilities to be on par with Prolimatech's Megahalems easy!)

I like the looks of the Zalman coolers like this but the lack of Heat pipes compared to the other coolers out there and cooling space will keep my money else were unless proven otherwise.

I also have noticed the lack of inter changeable fans. If you fan dies or you just want those extra few degrees by adding a Higher performance fan (Like a delta) you can't do it wit these types of HSF's.

But the good news is it looks really pretty

True my fault.... I didn't look at the base I was focusing on the tower part It does look like there are 3

Yeah from the fin array it only looks like 2, i had to poke around some other pictures to geuss at 3, you can see the hidden one at the back in this picture

But really i think it wont mater much, 3 heatpipes just cant compair to a tower cooler with 6 to 8 heatpipes.

Exactly they are monsters of heatsinks, both with 6 u shaped heatpipes that in a way kind of act as 12 with massive arrays of fins, with such a massive difference in heatpipe numbers and fin surface area there is no way any improvment of the heatpipes could make the 9900 max come close to the value of those 2 (as in cost to cooling performance).

But i would still be interested in if better heatpipes make the 9900max much better what they could do for awesome coolers like those 2, i geuss reviews between he 9900 and 9900 max should give an idea of what kind of improvement they offer.
I'm kinda sceptical that it can really dissapate 300w (assuming that is what "Q Max 300W" means).

yep thats the zero i was talking about thats limited right now not alot of places but u can find it at some online shops it took me a search about 3 months ago to even know about it. i was like i wonder if zerotherm makes a standalone i havent heard anything about them this year then i saw that and said holy@#%$#$% zerotherm can have my money anytime but i had already ebayed a megashadow which is megahard to find somtimes

yeah zerotherm is the shit id buy all in one nirvana before the previous versions of this fan , i also have a vememous X black on another computer i just like the megahsadows looks on this one better plus none of them are pushing hard enough to see too mucha diff.
