Old habits die hard, I don't know when I'll be able to discuss AMD cards rather that ATI cards. ;)

I admit i still sometimes refer to the new radeons as ATI cards but for the most part i'm refering to them as AMD cards and i mainly blame the fact the first thing i noticed about my 4870 (apart form being big and heavy ) was AMD with the AMD logo stamped just above the pci-e connecton, really they have been AMD cards to me since about 2006.

But to be honest i don't care what brading or naming they use now, i just want to see w1zzard's review.. pretty sure everyone else here is as well :D

I was curious if TPU would be changing to use the new AMD radeon logo for future radeon news posts.

give it a bit more time .. ati is still in the mindset of many people

Very true, was talking to an online friend today who is looking to get a new gpu and he didn't have a clue that AMD had bought ATI nevermind there be any kind of renaming going on right now.

I'm happy to see the ATI logo live on for a while, i still catch myself refering to the upcoming cards as being ATI so i geuss even i am not ready to move on yet

ATI will always be ATI, just like Raider is still Raider and not Twix, and Smiths Chips are still Smiths and no Lays.
The only thing positive about killing the ATI brand is more people will link the cards to the processor manufacturer.

The model marking is a massive fail. How can a HD6850 be slower than HD5850 !? It makes no sense at all. And then a HD6870 will be a HD5850 "competitor". Just idiotic...

sound like victim that had experience "upgrade" from 8800gtx to 9800gtx while 9800gtx was far weaker than 8800gtx.

well since the price had tag barts as a upper mid-range card(199~250) while cypress's price is hard as concrete that still stacked on that $300+ segment. barts may be 5~10% slower than cypress in dx9/10 and some older title but it's $100 more cheaper....what do you people expecting a card that is 100 dollars cheaper to beat a card that is still 350~400 dollars? despite the stupid naming the price had spoke its position is not up against cypress but fit in to replace the failure 5830. but i doubt barts is slower due to the cripple driver, as soon as new driver release we will see the boost of performance because it had the exactly same spec as cypress except it's 4D shader and less TMU because of less shader per ALU block. 1280 4D sp will definitely kick off cypress when driver is complete. not to mention cayman is the one that's going to replace cypress. amd just need to optimize driver on barts first then cayman can unleash it's power.

Informatique is no "no-name" store, it's one of the best stores in the country here. Those pre-orders are 100% real.

It going to stay that way for a long long time
Good work Wiz, love the site :)

It seems the HD 6800 and HD 6900 have a better shader structure than the HD 5800 series, it can do better with less and more will gain much extra performance, then why is the HD 6870 not faster than the HD 5870 then? I read on Fudzilla and Semiaccurate :wtf:

Fudzilla and Semiaccurate spread rumors, not facts. Wait and see.
