With the announcement of its newest flagship GPU, the GeForce GTX 580, NVIDIA released its first WHQL-signed GeForce driver suite for consumers. GeForce 262.99 WHQL is tailored for only the GTX 580, adding all necessary drivers, including embedded HDMI audio device (version 1.1.9.0), and NVIDIA PhysX system software (version 9.10.0514).

Have they done this in recent history? A non-monolithic driver. I'd expect them to merge the two in the next release.

Yes. Some of the first drivers for the GTX 400 series worked only for GTX 480/470.

Yep, installing it on my GTX470 right now using my modified INF. Wish I had checked here first so I could have just used Solaris17's modded INF instead of wasting my time modding it myself.:D

I think Nvidia and AMD should create drivers specifically for each series run imo (6xxx,5xxx,4xxx/5xx,4xx,2xx etc)

I know it would be a pain but each driver could be tweaked to take advantage of the design.

I know thats vague but you know what I mean.

I bet performance would sky rocket
