GeForce GTX 570 Pricing Surfaces

British retailer YoYo Tech, which claims to be "famously first for Fermi", started giving out the pricing of NVIDIA's upcoming enthusiast graphics card, the GeForce GTX 570. The card, according to this retailer, is priced at £299 (GBP), including 17.5% VAT, that's £246.6 excluding it. Direct conversion to USD would yield $384. Based on this, we can garner a guess that the US pricing could be somewhere between US $350 and $400. The GeForce GTX 570 is NVIDIA's upcoming graphics card based on the 40 nm GF110 GPU, it features 480 CUDA cores, and 1280 MB of GDDR5 memory over a 320-bit wide memory interface. That is a little higher than I expected for what is essentially a GTX475... I think the $350 price point should be the maximum, but it should be closer to the $300 price point. Though hopefully nVidia drops the price pretty quickly after the HD6900 series drops.

The stillborn GTX 475 is a lot different from GTX 570.

GTX 475 was supposed to have 384 CUDA cores and 256-bit GDDR5 memory bus, whereas GTX 570 is 480 CUDA cores (25% higher) and 320-bit GDDR5 memory bus (25% wider).

The GTX 560 is the one that's going to have specifications nearly identical to the GTX 475.

That wasn't what I was saying, I was saying this is essentially a GTX 475 because it sits between the GTX470 and GTX480 spec wise. It is a GTX470 with the shader count of a GTX480.

Oh I see, you were using "GTX 475" as an expression.

The GTX 475 I was referring to was a cancelled SKU based on GF104 with all its SMs enabled, and high clock speeds, supporting 3/4-way SLI.

480's are going for £299 in the UK, I would take a 480 with more memory over a 570, power usage will not be reduced that much with a 570 and temps with my 480 are fine even with an overclock on.

Kind of on the expensive side, I hope that's not the MSRP, though It doesn't matter too much to me as I won't be upgrading GPU for a good while yet and when I do hopefullly I can grab another 470 for some SLI action.

I think these should perfrom as good as an gtx 480 from the 580 benches?

Exactly, I'm saying this would have fit in if it was named GTX475 because that is probably where it is going to fall performance wise.

Yeah, I'm glad they cancelled the real GTX475, because I don't think it would have lived up to its name.

What they had planned for the GTX475 really should have been named the GTX465, and replaced that instead. IMO.

No, the GTX480 is still about $30-75 more expensive(depending on what price the GTX570 actually drops at).

Considering it should be right around 480 performance then yea, if it's doesn't spank a 5870 and the prices are about right then it's fail IMO.

If it's priced @ $300-$350 and we could have a contender, I adore my 470's I doubt I will upgrade, unless the preformance is 10%+ over a 470 or if they run a great deal cooler. I will likely wait till 2011 and see what Nvidia has planned for the next gen. But I will still be keeping a close eye on the 5 series.

Well considering the GTX470 pretty much matches a HD5870(with a % or two), yes I would say this is going to be a reasonable amount faster.

Yes, it looks like the same cooler, PCB so far. Just like NVIDIA used a common PCB/Cooler design for GTX 260 and GTX 280; GTX 260-216SP and GTX 285. It really helps when picking a full-coverage water block which you can later use on a GTX 580.

I'd guess $350 to match the 470 launch price. For backplates next time I'm thinking about getting an EK plate with thermal pads to make up for the lack of air holes. Some shiny nickel might be a nice change from the brushed black you get with evga.

It won't. It will lack two memory chips, and NVIDIA never does a sloppy work with disabling components (since GeForce 6800).

Unlocking to GTX 580 will be as "easy" as unlocking GTX 260 to GTX 280.
