Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't valves incredibly inefficient? What was wrong with transistors? Why are they going back in time to this old stuff for?

Valves deliver MUCH better sound

That's your opinion.

Obviously Schiit doesn't think so since this is a HYBRID amplifier that uses both tubes and transistors.

Well why would they be using valves at all then? Obviously its for thier sound not electrical effeciency

That's simply what they choose to use, and yes it's of course not for the electrical efficiency but that doesn't mean that tubes > SS. There are high end amplifiers that apply each of the three types: SS, hybrid, and tube.

It really comes down to personal preference, personally I'm a fan of hybrid and solid state... the all tube amps I've tried are nice and warm/lush but sacrificed the detail that hybrid and SS are usually known for.

Some tube amps can actually sound "solid state" and some solid state amps can sound "tube-like" so again, tubes just give more variety to the amp designer and customers.

Benchmark Scores not benching anymore...
the benefit of using hybrid amps are you get both of the goods of solid state amp, and tube amp
solidstate is faster, punchier bass, better resolution, and wider soundstage
tube gets, warmer type of sound, intimate vocals, and better midrange..

if you combine both, you get one of the best sounding amp..

Hmmm, I wonder if these guys would venture into the phono preamp business?

This company is all hype and is into underhanded viral marketing ever since it's creation. Cheapo construction and overpriced low-grade components is all they can deliver.
I bet they started advertising their products on "tech" websites like here because they had a cold reception in the Audiophile and HIFI world. :banghead:

Sorry for the all-negative and non-constructive bashing, but I just hate this kind of company :shadedshu

Do you have experience with their products or links to reviews and testing which support your statements of cheap construction and poor components?
If not, what you posted is worthless.

Source? I'm struggling to find a bad review...

There is no bad reviews since they "offer" a free unit or they lent one to well known people on hifi forums in exchange for a positive review with neutral coloration of the bad points. The founder of Head-fi (Jude) received such unit and posted a review that sounded like a press release, full of empty statements (the unit sound "good"...). For someone that own thousands of dollars of headphone equipments, his review was ridiculously hollow and sounded payed for. I am not saying it's a bad thing to accept money in exchange of a simple forum post, but I think it's a sneaky deceiving marketing technique.

Also, no review that I found showed an open unit or a single comment on build quality but you can just look at the connectors at the back to realize it's all surface mount.

That didn't exactly prove your point. Lets see some links to reviews and more facts, and a little less speculation.
