Graphics card specialist Galaxy Tech is venturing into other kinds of gaming PC hardware. The company is ready with its first line of solid-state drives. The Galaxy SATA line of SSDs come in the 2.5" SATA 3 Gb/s form-factor, in capacities of 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. The SSD controller supports the TRIM garbage collection feature. Typically, these drives give read/write speeds of 240 MB/s (read) and 210 MB/s (write). The company did not give out any further information, but we hope to hear more at CES.

Makes me wonder why there isn't more devices with native hardware TRIM where it doesn't matter what kind of OS you have. Such drive would be ideal for my WinXP based netbook (since TRIM requires Win7 otherwise).

At least more 3-digit capacities for SSDs. Recently almost all the "new" ones coming out are 32, 40, 64 or 80 GB.

Soo if it has native trim does it mean it uses an ilindix controller?

Most likely since it's read and write speeds are just under a Sandforce controller. Hopefully these will be cheaper than the Sandforce drives. I'd love a good 256gb drive for a good price.

This only interests me if the lowest-capacity drive is only under $90. These things are too expensive. :shadedshu

thats true, but i guess speed above 200mbps wont recognize when you put it on the rig, 200mbps is pretty fast, it looks its enough for today needs:toast:
