NEC Display Solutions Improves 23-inch MultiSync EA Series Model

NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, announced today the 23-inch MultiSync EA232WMi, a 16:9 model designed for corporate, financial, healthcare, engineering, CAD and other professional applications.

Replacing the popular MultiSync EA231WMi, the new MultiSync EA232WMi maintains an IPS panel for superior color, viewing angles and image quality. Additionally, it adds LED-backlit technology, which provides more energy efficiency and less power consumption, heat and carbon dioxide emissions. The display's ambient light sensor and ECO Mode can further help save energy and prolong product life.



"The MultiSync EA232WMi provides our elite IT customers with several improvements over its predecessor," said Lynn Gu, Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions. "Its LED backlight and mercury-free composition make it greener, and it is lighter in weight, consumes less power and is a recipient of TCO 5.1, the newest TCO compliance rating. We work diligently to develop products that operate hand-in-hand with its users, and the ergonomics, technologies and energy efficiency built into the MultiSync EA Series accomplish that objective."

The MultiSync EA232WMi includes the following features:

• 23-inch, 16:9, IPS panel with LED backlighting
• 1920 x 1080 full HD
• 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
• Advanced connectivity with DisplayPort, DVI-I and VGA
• Fully adjustable stand with 110mm height-adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot
• Integrated 4-port USB 2.0 hub
• Space-saving, down-firing speakers with audio jack
• Ambient light sensor, ECO Mode, carbon footprint meter and cost meter
• ENERGY STAR 5.0 and TCO 5.1 compliant

The MultiSync EA232WMi ships with a 3-year limited parts and labor warranty and will be available in January 2011 at an estimated street price of $299.

Tell me about it. I find only a few 1920x1200 monitors these days. Instead of progressing like it used to, lcd technology has regressed and is stuck at 1080p.

I'm with you guys on this i'm on two 22' 16:10 monitors and looking to upgrade soon.

And there is only this 16:9 garbage all over the market I can't find a decent 16:10 monitor anywhere it really pisses me off. This monitor looks ok but I don't want speakers on it and doesn't look like they can be removed.

i'm left looking at like $600 dell monitors U2410 just to get a decent resolution.

Hey, enough of the 16:10 and 1920x1200 complaining! 120 extra vertical pixels isn't exciting... Proper progress would be 2880 or 3840 pixel wide screens becoming common and affordable. Please no more "1920x1200 is better than 1920x1080" comments in these threads.

OLED would be better still of course: LG demo. Faultless viewing angles and genuinely dark black pixels (resulting in power saved). Nice.

You can't have your cake and eat it. 8 years ago constant whine, why does my monitor drive such large resolutions (1600x1200) if the textures look like crap bleh.

Now it's why am I stuck with these low resolutions...

AMD came up with a solution, unfortunately it involves many panels

I refuse to not make the 1200 is better than 1080 comment, because it flat out is. 120 lines does most certainly make a difference on documents and scrolling thru web pages.

If you like getting less screen for the money that is good for you. However it looks like me and the rest of the posters in here disagree.

And since i'm running dual displays I would probably need to buy two of them.

Even though I could afford to drop $1400+ on them at that price its well into 30' monitor territory and the choice becomes harder.

I'm not onto much, I just enjoy saving thousands upon thousands of dollars over the years by shopping on ebay.

Who cares if its used as long as it functions perfectly and looks new?

It is sometimes better to get used because you know its been "warmed up" and there are no initial problems.

Ya but my issue with buying used monitors especially over the internet is Warranty Issues and dead pixels.

Having to ship a monitor back and forth for issues it not really appealing to me.

This one does look like its coming from the dell factory in Texas because it carries the 3 year warranty but dead pixels may still be an issue.

true, but those are always a possibility even with new monitors. You generally can't get a full refund for anything less than 8 dead pixels on a brand new monitor - at least from Newegg that is the case.

At least with used monitors you can ask someone who already took the chance with the "new monitor" whether it has bad pixels or not.
