Corsair,a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the launch of its new family of desktop speakers designed specifically to meet the needs of gamers. The Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 high-performance, high-power 2.1 speaker system sets a new standard for gaming audio, and the SP2200 delivers quality 2.1 audio at an aggressive price.
The Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 speakers feature bi-amplified two-way satellites with 1" ferro-cooled silk dome tweeters and 3" midrange drivers, as well as an 8" subwoofer using a fourth-order bandpass enclosure to deliver crystal clear audio for gaming, as well as music and movies. With its balanced system design, the SP2500 provides more than 230 watts RMS of output power to deliver bone-shaking bass and room-filling sound without distortion.
"We designed the Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 to meet the unique needs of gaming audio, without compromising music and movie fidelity. A gaming PC often doubles as an audio jukebox and Blu-ray player, and now there's a high-performance speaker system that can deliver amazing audio in games, music, and movies." said Ruben Mookerjee, VP and General Manager for Components at Corsair. "Gamers simply don't have to compromise. With the SP2500, we've built an intelligent speaker system that raises the bar in PC audio, from both an acoustic and an electronic perspective."
Designed and engineered in Corsair's newly installed audio lab, the Gaming Audio Series SP2500 includes a digital signal processor, six Class-D amplifiers, and active digital crossovers, as well as an easy-to-use wired remote with 3.5mm color LCD display that puts you in complete control of your audio experience. Using the controller, you can select your input source, control volume and subwoofer levels, as well as access features like pre-set EQs and DSP programs. This includes a late-night mode that changes the crossover frequencies to shift the low end from the subwoofer to the satellites so you can game late into the night without disturbing your family or neighbors.
You can connect the SP2500 to virtually any sound card or audio source via either the 3.5mm stereo jack or stereo RCA jacks, and two additional 3.5mm Aux-In jacks (one each on the sub and controller) allow iPods or other external audio sources to be connected quickly and easily. The controller also includes a 3.5mm headphone out jack. As an intelligent speaker system, the SP2500 also incorporates a USB connector on the controller so its library of preset EQs and DSP programs can be updated or expanded in the future.
"We're committed to bringing the same quality and attention to detail that's made Corsair famous in memory, PSUs, cooling, and cases to all of our audio products." continued Mookerjee To this end, we've built a new audio lab, staffed with industry recognized acoustic engineers, to ensure we can continue to produce innovative, state-of-the-art audio solutions.
Corsair is also announcing the Gaming Audio Series SP2200 performance 2.1 PC speaker system for gamers looking for high-quality audio at a lower price point. Designed using the same detailed attention to acoustics as the SP2500, the SP2200 is rated at 46 watts RMS of total output power* and features two satellites with 2" full-range drives and a 6" ported subwoofer. The SP2200 can be connected to almost any audio source, including console gaming systems, via either a 3.5mm stereo or RCA input jack. There are also 3.5mm stereo jacks for headphone out and Aux-In, as well as individual controls for volume and subwoofer level located conveniently on the right satellite.
The Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 will be available in late January, 2011 and SP2200 speakers are expected to be available in late Q1, 2011, from Corsair's worldwide network of authorized distributors and resellers. The SP2500 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $249.99 and the SP2200 has an MSRP of $99.99, and both come with a two-year limited warranty. Like all Corsair products, the Gaming Audio Series speakers and headsets are backed by Corsair's highly regarded customer service and technical support.
