Luckily I only paid $580 (each) for both of my i7 970's. Makes me a little sad that I probably could have gotten them cheaper if I had waited a couple months...

Either way, I am glad Intel is keeping the 1366 going:)
I'd be more interested in a newer chipset and a new series of chips. Perhaps a faster QPI with memory support comparable to the new QPI, a newer southbridge...

If it drops the price of the 970 and 980X, why not??

Also, not very rare are the people who buy computers with Intel's highest end processors and don't OC.

yeah i know, but why anyone want to buy 980X with upped multi ? isn't 980X have unlocked multi to begin with, just up the multi and bam you got your self a 990X and you will be crazy if you are planing to upgrade to this CPU after all this system is DEAD, and will be replaced with 2011 socket this year, they better save the money and wait

The 990X is supposed to be a better chip then the 980X, ie: better for extreme OCers. Also, the upped multi helps at stocks, as some rich people want the best OEM PC possible, an upped multi helps.

Also, having the 6 cores near 500$ is an awesome thing for lga 1366 and because of this, it will still be a viable option, EVEN AFTER LGA 2011 release.

Price on eBay was already ~$600 after shipping. A few were even close to the $500 mark.

Wonder if this will drop them down even more or if that was somehow already reflecting the price change since this has been for the last few months or so.

Either way, really looking forward to getting my a 970 now. Don't have any desire for more then what I've got on my X58 setup except a 6 core.
