Clumsy desktop PCs are out and notebooks are in. MSI has unveiled the new generation GX680 NB featuring Intel's second generation Core i7 quad core processor, the DirectX 11-supporting nVidia GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics card, four DDR3 memory slots, and accelerated dual hard disk architecture, packing the punch of a desktop PC into a highly portable laptop.
Eric Kuo, associate vice president for global sales, MSI Notebook, notes that the GX680 notebook computer boasts superior performance and the best wrap around sound available. MSI worked closely with Dynaudio to determine ideal speaker locations to obtain obstruction-free sound transmission. What's more, new generation GX680 features cinema-grade THX TruStudio Pro smart wrap around sound, so regardless of the kind of music you play, it's faithfully reproduced.
Awesome power
Intel second generation Core i7 quad core processor: The GX680 sports Intel's second generation Core i7 quad core processor which offers better performance and new generation Turbo Boost 2.0 technology which throttles up the computing capabilities of all cores. Quick Sync Video enhances multimedia file computing performance during conversion, synchronization, and compilation.
nVidia's top GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics card: MSI's GX680 comes with nVidia's new generation GeForce GT 555M high-end discrete graphics card (w/ 1GB GDDR5 display memory) which supports DirectX 11 to enhance game resolution. Now-visible lines in far-off buildings make games more realistic and you can see individuals off in the distance or hidden in dark corners in great detail. You can see their eyes and other facial features as well as clothing, making it easier to distinguish friend from foe and target in on bad guys off in the distance, greatly enhancing game realism.
Four DDR3 memory slots: To provide gamers with the most powerful machines possible, the new generation GX680 comes with four DDR3 memory slots for a maximum of 16GB, giving you an NB with the memory capacity of a server. What's more, the GX680 comes with RAID 0 accelerated dual architecture which doubles hard drive memory capacity, enhancing read-write speeds by some 70%.
TDE instantly boosts system performance
TDE technology: The GX680 also uses MSI's own Turbo Drive Engine (TDE) technology, so with just one touch of the luminescent Turbo hotkey located above the keyboard instantly revs up performance. So whether the GX680 is processing heavy-load graphics or other applications, it won't get bogged down. You can rest assured knowing that when you go careening about the galaxy or you find yourself battling orcs, the GX680 has your back.
Cooler Boost: In addition to TDE instant overclocking, MSI included its own powerful Cooler Boost technology in the GX680. Again, just one touch of the luminescent hotkey above the keyboard kicks in the powerful cooling function which also shows current core temperatures and fan RPMs. Now, NB systems can stay cool even when working for long periods in hot conditions.
Faithful reproduction
Dynaudio: MSI worked closely with world renowned sound system designers at Dynaudio to carry out vast amounts of study and countless calculations on the GX680 notebook computer to determine ideal locations to install speakers to obtain obstruction-free sound transmission.
THX TruStudio Pro: The MSI GX680 is equipped with THX TruStudio Pro wrap around sound, heretofore found only in cinemas. The sound is pumped out of top-end internal speakers, so that the GX680 reproduces any music type or frequency faithfully.
Cinema Pro technology: The GX680 laptop features powerful multimedia processing and MSI's own Cinema Pro technology for the best possible graphics. A touch of the Cinema Pro hotkey instantly switches to film mode for higher resolution and richer colors to bring you the same great audio experience found in live performances, films, and recording studios. MSI's all new GX680 is not only the best choice for serious gamers; it's a powerful digital multimedia center.
Multiple HD hardware: MSI's GX680 is equipped with a wide cinema-class 16:9 ratio LED display. Not only are colors rich and crisp, you don't have those pesky black bars at the top and bottom of your screen when viewing HD films. Images are true-to-life and the HD720p webcam allows you to enjoy fast, smooth, and bright high fidelity web calls with friends and family. If you want something bigger than a high definition computer screen to view films, the MSI GX680 also comes with an HDMI port, so any type of high-fidelity, high-definition video can be played on your NB, but viewed via a cable on a large-screen LCD television screen.
More power means faster charges
i-Charger technology: The MSI GX680 is equipped with MSI's own i-Charger technology. More powerful electrical current to the USB speeds up charging more than three-fold, so that you don't need to spend nearly as much time to get your mobile devices up and running again.
Latest USB3.0 ports: The GX680 comes with new USB3.0 ports which boast transfer speeds of 4.8Gbps-10 times faster than USB2.0, and 80% higher power transmission, providing vastly higher data transfer rates and charging speeds for external hard drives, flash drives, and other handheld electronic devices.
ECO Engine power saving technology: The GX680 comes with MSI's own ECO Engine, a power-saving technology which allows you to select from among five power management levels-Video Game, Film, Presentation, Word Processing, and Turbo Battery, automatically adjusting display brightness as well as on/off switch, sleep mode, and processor performance settings, maximizing battery flexibility and use per charge.
NB King
The ultimate gaming laptop: The GX680 is the next step in the MSI G Series of gaming notebooks. The glowing white MSI logo in the center of the cover, the black diamond shape, and fire engine red trim underscore the GX680's minimalist elegance. The stylish rhombic pattern below the keyboard and chrome plating on the touchpad add texture. The body is sheathed in MSI's own rich, glossy color film print to protect the GX680 from scratching and wear to keep your machine looking good.
Light and sound show technology: The MSI GX680 has another cool feature-a one-of-a-kind LED light show. So whether you're listening to music or engrossed in an exciting, fast paced game, you can flick on the MSI LED light show hotkey with the touch of a finger and lights embedded in both sides of the notebook and in front of the keyboard will pulsate automatically to sounds emitted by your laptop, kicking the thrill level of your GX680 up a few notches.
Chiclet keyboard: The GX680 features an independent chiclet keyboard, so keys are nice and solid to the touch, making it more difficult to hit the wrong key in the heat of battle.
