SAPPHIRE Technology has just strengthened its current range of graphics cards with the introduction of several new models in the HD 6700 series aimed at users wanting to benefit from the latest features including multi-screen displays and stereoscopic 3D output.

Several models will be introduced in the HD 6700 series offering a choice of memory configurations and outputs. All of them feature DX 11 engines from AMD and on-board hardware video decoding with the AMD UVD (universal Video Decoder) supporting Blu-Ray 3D for stereoscopic 3D over HDMI 1.4a. They all support AMD APP Acceleration with Stream processing as well as AMD Eyefinity multi-screen technology. Eyefinity gives users the ability not only to play games on multiple monitors, but also to work across three or more monitors as though it were one large monitor, bringing huge productivity benefits to applications such as photo editing, music creation and document creation.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6770 family includes two models with 800 Stream processors and core clocks of 850MHz with either 1GB or 512MB of GDRR5 memory and DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. There is also an overclocked model with SAPPHIRE's award winning Vapor-X cooler for quiet and efficient operation with the output configuration of Dual DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

At the top of the range is the HD 6770 1GB FleX Edition, which additionally incorporates the SAPPHIRE exclusive feature to allow three DVI monitors to be connected in Eyefinity mode, without the need to use the DisplayPort output or active adapters, and allows up to four monitors to be enabled if the DisplayPort output is used.

There will also be two models in the SAPPHIRE HD 6750 family, which has the slightly smaller configuration of 720 Stream processors, with 700MHz clock speeds and again including 1GB and 512MB memory options with DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. In addition there will be an HD 6750 1GB Vapor-X model, overclocked and with Dual DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6000 series is supported by AMD's Catalyst DirectX 11 WHQL certified graphics driver which together with this generation of hardware delivers support for all of the key DirectX 11 level features including DirectCompute 11 instructions, hardware Tessellation and multi-threaded communications with the system CPU. They also support AMD APP Acceleration, - using Stream processing to accelerate supported applications such as browsing, video transcoding and rendering tasks by executing instructions on the GPU architecture rather than the system CPU.

So much for not selling these 5700 renames direct to public.:shadedshu
Anyway... I guess it had to happen, the n00bs must have all been asking why there's a "gap" in the 6000 series.

EDIT: OT: @Imsochobo: what the hell's with that internet speed?!

I wonder how many people will rush out to upgrade their 5770s to the 6770s without knowing they're the exact same card.

Inevitable... and with the latest features it skirt's being "super-blatant" rename, but with the same spec's it is. If AMD and their AIB partners hold the same going-rate (pricing) as the 57XX’s does now with rebates... et cetera, I'm not too distraught about it. Sure gouging will be inescapable, but with 6670 and 6790 on either side I don’t see it being big issue and actually wonder why they need these at this point?

Last I checked the 5770's at Egg where averaging about $118 (after-rebates etc.) based against some 16 cards that where moderately priced (basically those <$150). If AMD can turn-off/quickly deplete the 57XX's inventories, while parlaying those sales over to these it would be great. Although that's a tall order, as honestly I didn't see AMD effectively managing and maneuver such stocks down the past couple of months. It appears a lot of AIB still have SKU/volume at major E-tailers. That said at least AMD/ATI has been somewhat better at actually ceasing the old in a timely fashion once the new shows.

Just bumping the 5770 from its' 850Mhz to 875Mhz (3%) would have it encroaching on the 6790 (its' @ 840Mhz).

Right now the difference between them is ~13% (@1680x-1920x)so even that little extra would've had a 128-Bit card, almost right on top that "gelding" even working half the memory interface. Then considering with a TPD of about 35% more for the 6790, it would have made the model look ineffectual / impractical.

I think I'll just take a marker and scratch the "5" off mine and write "6". This way I can sell it for more cash. :D Besides, mine has one more DVI than the HD 6770, so it's a sure thing. Making moneys. :pimp:
I wonder how many people will rush out to upgrade their 5770s to the 6770s without knowing they're the exact same card.
If I don't sell mine, I'm gonna crossfire when I get the chance. :p

In best buy they have the 6770 and 5770 right next to each other lmfao. AMD and Nvidia should be ashamed of their self releasing the same damn cards over again with a different number. Just seems like a total waste of time.

New series number = brand new card, to many consumers. AMD and nVidia profit from that. It's just business.
