Logitech announced today the Logitech X-240 speaker system for the PC, to be on display at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show next week. The X-240 PC speaker system features a redesigned control center that includes audio controls for a PC or Mac and serves as a cradle for an iPod or other MP3 player, PDA or mobile phone. The X-240 speakers include specialized trays for the iPod and Microsoft Zune portable players and pumps out 25 watts RMS(2x5W satellites, 15W sub-woofer). The Logitech X-240 speaker system is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning in April and in Europe beginning in May. With a suggested retail price in the U.S. of $49.99, the Logitech X-240 speakers provide superior audio performance for their price.

So since the Ipod and Creative MP3 players have been invented...no speaker manufacturer company finds it worthwhile to make a decent 4.1 - 7.1 or 8.1 speaker set? Damn these new inventions. It seems 2.1 speakers are all the rage. (I do have to admit, Bose, the best damn speaker and audio company in the world ((Argue if you will, its true)) makes the nice companion 2.0 and 2.1 set which is beautiful and great sound).

Bose is not the best. I work at Sears and I compared many many different brands. The best one out there is Polk-Audio.

I was about to say that Polk Audio is really that much better compared to Bose.

Yeah, Bose is nice, but nothing compared to real FloorStanding Speakers by Polk, Klipsch, and others.

lololol I almost fell off my chair. BOSE marketing machine at it's finest. BOSE is notoriously one of THE worst, overpriced speaker manufacturers on the planet.

As far as those Klipsch are concerned, if you like horns, they can be nice. However horns have always been extremely piercing to my ears.

Polk was OK back in the day 70's, 80's. They required a TON of power to sound nice however. Today they are just mass marketed junk.

B&W has some really nice highend speakers, but anything else is overpriced and of poor sonic quality. Personally I feel they went downhill a lot recently.

Tannoy has some fantastic highend speakers as well

I invite you guys to actually visit a real speaker shop outside of Sears or BestBuy one of these days. Someday you will really hear what you are missing. DynAudio, Totem Acoustics, Revel, Martin Logan, Meridian, Wilson Audio , Tyler Acoustics & many many more. Expand your horizons.

I'm with Overcast. Bose are fine, but they don't even remotely come close to audiophile quality.

Of course, any sounds coming from your computer (i.e. mp3s, computer games etc.) have usually been so compressed and diluted from the original source that it's silly to bother with anything other than decent gear.

Personally, I'm a vintage tube guy. Still using a HK a500 amp I found at a pawn shop for $10 with my CAL AudioLabs CDplayer. I'd buy better stuff if I could afford it!
