Microsoft is continuing to develop its latest console, this time with an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) update. Microsoft itself will not be providing the content that is available, this responsibility will instead fall upon existing providers, with AT&T rumoured to be one of these. Websites first started to report this last Saturday, but it has only just been confirmed by Microsoft, and they have not yet announced which providers will to be used. If the company chooses to allow users to record the content or uses video on demand, the rumoured 120GB hard drive now seems all the more likely. The Xbox 360 was already capable of streaming high definition video from a PC, but the console will now be capable of HD TV programmes directly through a broadband connection.

Not likely. HDDs for consoles usually cost a lot more. Thats why ppl find ways to add normal HDDs to their consoles. A 250GB HDD can be had for under 70$ now adays, for PCs.

it is very exciting to watch the world of internet and telvision merge. i remember back 10 years ago talking about this very possibility with a group of friends.

If this is true (and I will most likely use it) I will either buy the 120GB HDD or if there is an upgrade path upgrade to the "Zephyr" Xbox 360 (if true).

so its television over your ethernet. how good is the quality??? i know one day it will be just as good, when they can stream 1080p over your internet connection but i wonder how good it will be initially. why not just stick a digital tv tuner in the xbox360 and a processor that can handle encoding and decoding 1080p streams.
