While AMD/ATI presented a lot of interesting things at CES 2007 (such as an R600 prototype), NVIDIA had nothing there except for three closed-to-public booths. There is much speculation as to why NVIDIA did not show off any new technology (excluding working G80 drivers for Vista), but chances are they want to show a lot more stuff at a later trade show.

its like a game of chess, Nvidia are waiting for ATI to make its move. i would be quite silly for Nvidia to release an entire range of dx10 products before AMD have released even one.

ahhahahahahahhaa *cries with laughter*
Nvidia are trying to copy ATI/AMD; biding, but at a stupid time.
ATI/AMD did not reveal the R600 though. They showed off some other theatre chips, etc.

An X1950XTX can run ANY game fully maxed with 4-6xAA. The only thing that the 8800 GTX has over it is better FPS in resolutions above 16x12, and more AA (wich u cant see anyway). The DX10 side should also come in handy at SOME point.

Cannot really understand why people are getting excited over the fact that ATi did show off some stuff and Nvidia didnt, the only reason ATi could show off a R600 prototype is because thats exactly it......a prototype because they have not managed to get it on the shelves yet, by the time they do NVidia will already have its mid ranged 8800 series cards on the shelf so they will have like 2/3 of the DX10 market at least, by the time ATi have their mid ranged on the shelf NVidia will have had plenty of time to develop it's second generation DX10, its probably that card they really would NOT want to show ATi!

Forgetting about quality of cards (yes I agree the R600 looks better, on paper at least) for the time being there is only one company making billions outta DX10 and thats NVidia and that will continue at least until the early summer when ATi bring out their mid range cards so which company is laughing now?

Personally I am probably going to wait until ATi second generation and see what that has to offer.

My ATI Radeon X1950 XT can run games maxed out and with a 1440 x 900 resolution and still get around 100fps.
