Rosewill Intros RK-9000 Series Mechanical Keyboards

Rosewill announced its RK-9000 series of mechanical-switch keyboards. In mechanical keyboards, each key has its own mechanical switch, compared to common membrane keyboards that use rubber conductive pads over a plastic membrane. Mechanical keyboards also tend to be more durable and provide more consistant tactile feedback compared to membrane ones. Rosewill's RK-9000 series is built on the various kinds of Cherry MX series switches, that have different tactile feedback levels.

The RK-9000 (standard) uses Cherry MX Blue switches, the RK-9000BR uses Cherry MX Brown, the RK-9000BL uses Cherry MX Black, and the RK-9000RE uses Cherry MX Red. All RK-9000 keyboards come with detachable cables, and come bundled with both USB and PS/2 cables. The connectors are gold-plated to improve durability. Pricing and availability isn't known, but the keyboards should reach major retail stores very soon.

The RK-9000 has existed before. It got deactivated, and it appears they decided to reactivate it.

It will be nice to get some other mechanical boards on the market, especially with blacks and browns. If you want a quiet switch the pickings are somewhat slim at a sub $100 price point.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at here? Both items have there applications, IPS for the viewing angles and better color reproduction. Mechanical keyboard provide a better feel to the keys through and are actually less taxing to use. The original cherry blue board by Rosewill is quite a nice board and wouldn't consider it crap in any way.

your comments are borderline trolling, if you don't care about keyboards and panel types, that's just your own ignorant view. there are many people (and companies) who use them.

My work is related to professional graphic, TN screens create unnecessary strain on my eyes, which I am required to work in front of a monitor daily. so a good monitor essential to my work. and IPS monitors allows me to accurately represent my work, it has a larger color gamut, and of course, viewing angle is essential because I need my colors and contrast to remain constant. my coworker beside me also need to see the same colors(and contrast) as I am. image displayed on my IPS screen looks leaps and bounds better than a TN screen.

My entire company of several hundred employees all use IPS screens, and cannot live without it. So tell me and all my coworkers that this is gimmick.

as for mechanical keyboards, I currently do not own one, but after trying out the Cherry Blue switches at a store, I am sold, I can type much faster and effortlessly on it than any rubber dome crapboard. and placing my order as I type. Price for me is non-issue, I have money, I make living with computers so it makes sense to put some money back into maximizing comfort and efficiency while working on it, this is about responsibility to my personal health and comfort, for me this is money well spent. So tell it to my face that this is gimmick.

ANSI layout keyboard, Rosewill probably won't make any other layout as it only makes products for the USA i think.

Looks like a cheaper version of a Filco Majestouch.

My personal board is the Zowie Celeritas, its hard finding a cherry mx board with a UK ISO layout so i was pretty much stuck with this and a Majestouch and this offers some extras.

@pr0n Inspector - Consider the following; i never knew mechanical keys existed until only a few years ago and a basic board like a Filco will set you back £100 unless you go for MX Blacks which in that case Steelseries offer the 6G. Anyway my point being maybe price and in terms of people only just discovering them has had a factor on them becoming more popular. The same with IPS displays they only just became a reasonable price.

I didn't think spending £100 would make a difference but i could never buy another rubber dome again, all because i bought a G15 and found the keys mushy and that was supposed to be a top rubber dome so i took a chance on a Cherry MX Brown board thinking it will last me enough to offset the cost.

EDIT: I though Cherry MX Reds where almost extinct? Aren't they the lighter MX Blacks?

You dont know that for all products, i would atleast wait for a review. It would be really hard to mess up a keyboard.

Yeah the IBM buckling spring from the 80s but the early 2000s there wasn't really mechanical boards its been a niche market even though its a superior technology.

Hard to mess up cherry switches unless they just fall out. The PCB of the keyboard could be messed up but i dont think it would be one of those issues where it works and then just stops working. All the parts of that keyboard are made from another manufacture if not the whole damn keyboard.

Brands get bad reputations sometimes from certain items, doesn't mean it carries over to COMPLETELY different line of products.
