I feel like people are judging DICE way too much because of the Beta bugs... Bugs are normal for a beta game, wait for the final product before you judge

On the same day that Battlefield 3 is released, October 25th, a patch fixing bugs and making general improvements will be made available. While this may seem an odd thing to do, it's being done, because the developer DICE are perfectionists and want to released the best possible product. This means that development will continue right up to release day and the patch includes the sorts of things one would expect, such as added features as well as the bugfixes and is available for free on all three gaming platforms.

This press release would work on kids under the age of 10, but I'm surprised it worked on you. Purchasers are being screwed and told to like it.

EA has pushed this unfinished product out the door to get your money sooner. Sound familiar? It should, EA does it all the time. Cashflow is king, even for larger developers. They calculate that its "good enough" for now and you'll just have to live with the bugs until (and "if") they decide to fix them.

This is reason for praise???!??

BF3 is a huge project for EA and they expect it to be extremely profitable. Their team will be working on it for a short time, but quickly pulled to other projects to make more money regardless of major bugs which might exist. The fact that they released it early was a business decision, typical of EA. Its a reminder that their accounting will ALWAYS take a front seat to a quality, finished product. They don't care about the product, they want to make $$$ with as little investment as possible.

@MikeMurphy

Yes, it could be a turd, or they could really be perfectionists - it really could go either way and it's impossible to say with certainty.

I think you make some very good points. Thankyou for your comment. :)

My 10yr old comment was a unjustifiably harsh, so I apologize. Thx for your response. I hope the game turns out well, but I distrust EA in the extreme.

The complexity of BF3 is downright immense. I don't think there is any other game out there that comes close in these terms. Of course it'll need patching.

From what I have seen anyway the beta was way too close to release and they couldn't have updated the games quickly enough to fix all the bugs so they are just doing a large patch instead of delaying release of the game.
