MW3 Cheaters: 1600 Banned And Counting

This site has turned into a discussion forum for kids about games. I don't really fell any connection to that. My folding rigs will be on in the TPU name and I will keep updated on that forum alone.

Not at all - TPU is still very much a hardware site. reviews are pretty much HARDWARE reviews.

Gaming is only encorporated into TPU because PC's make great gaming machines and it makes a lot of sense to include it as a lot of TPU members game. Maybe not professionaly but for fun during time off work and such.

There are currently a lot of posts about games because the games in question are some of the top games of 2011. Once everyone has got over the initial surge of MW3 and BF3, gaming news will be few and far between until the next major title release.

honestly - quit your belly aching.

mstenholm, crack a beer, and sit back and watch the fun! it's just a stupid announcement about a stupid game. yes, the kiddies will play, but us older folk know to just mellow out and enjoy it. jeez, no need to get so serious!

Everyone stay on topic. I won't say this again.

Now, while cheating is wrong, it can also be an incredibly fun, but guilty pleasure. So, is it really all the cheater's fault, when opportunities like this are laid at there feet? It's like giving someone a cake and telling them not to eat it. Perhaps the program code should have been more bug free in the first place, too?

Qubit, as a person that generally likes your work, this just comes across to me as troll bait. Just putting that out there.

As for the people getting banned, they have it coming to 'em.

As I said - Kids

Hardware reviews, ha.....two mayor CPUs were released the past 30 days and how many reviews did TPU do? O, sill, nothing. Four cases and a SSD. I came here some years back because of the reviews but since a new (self-appointed?) editor came alone news are colored by that persons personal opinions to an extent it is not worth reading.

Cheat away guys - how can anyone take this (online gaming) serious anyway. Not really news and not worth using space in any forum. Take that kids....

you sound like a cheater

I agree, i like to cheat in AOE2, but i never play it MP. i think cheating in MP is wrong and not fun.

I dont find cheating fun in SP or MP. I look at it like this:

if I have to cheat in SP then I am clearly not pushing myself to think hard enough or react fast enough. same thing for MP except that it is also very disrespectful to other people

I see this as a hacking story more then a gaming story and in my opinion is no different then a windows exploit or gmail hacking story. People build alot of types of PCs here some for folding and some for games and others for HTPCs. If they did a story on someone cheating the folding rankings I don't think many would complain. If it's about tech it has a place here IMO:toast:
But yeah I too would like to see some more hardware reviews and mods on the front page form the TPU crew.

They do need to realize that for some hacking is the real game and start cheater servers where they can observe the exploits and let the hackers have their fun in a more controlled way. In the end it is just a game and not the end of the world as some would make it out to be.

you are getting it twisted. there is still lots of tech news. if you paid closer attention you would have noticed that Qubit posts over the weekends when it used to be pretty dead here at those times

Don't mix it up with sport plaese. Gaming is for fat kids, sport is for active people.

I play games and sport. I love how ignorant your comment is, shows how much of a moron you are.

Gaming may not be an active sport however it is still a competition based event.

compared to other games (BF3 anyone?) i don't think they have to worry about bugs at all

Of course not, it is ancient Q3a engine. It is beyond done to death. Newer engines will always have more bugs at the cost of them looking a lot better.

Oh and that is why I have yet to buy MW3..
:banghead:

i say ban em and if they come back ban em again

the thing is though no matter how many times you ban them they'll come back and still do it.

TPU is (to my knowledge) entirely self-sustained, and can only review hardware that they get from the manufacturer as they don't have the funds to go out and buy every CPU\GPU\HDD\SSD that launches. If you want to see a complete Bulldozer review, contact AMD and figure out why they didn't send TPU a unit to review. As I recall, because TPU is so non-bias, they have slowly lost a number of companies backings for not being willing to cherry-pick the benchmarks so their products appeared to perform better than they really did. TPU's reviews are probably the best there are, it's a shame Intel and AMD aren't more willing to send them review units.

as i saw cheating in games is like a knife with 2 sharp edges

is easy to cheat if someone already find the way and make it public but..

what about the smart ones who don't make public and keep doing ?they are never caught and nobody call them cheaters so how can we define who is cheating and who's not?

i preffer to call those smarter than the creators and those peple shall be hired by developers if they really want to stop cheating or to have better finished games

I've said it before and I'll say it again. CoD players are like rabbits. Replicate about as fast as you can run them over. Then there is the constant hopping around which makes them harder targets.

Only solution to wiping them out...napalm...lots and lots of napalm ;).

I think the new Saints Row game had the best solution, they allow cheating but you cant get achievements or anything like that, and it disables auto save while you're playing. So basically, you can play coop with your friends and enable cheats to screw around, or you can play the game as intended.

Valve sort of does something similar with their allowance of non-vac servers that let server admins load up any mods, any rules, and any server settings they want, but again you dont get certain things that make more "competitive" games fun for more players.

I absolutely agree that BF3 and MW3 should ban players who blatantly load up 3rd party programs and use those to exploit the game in an open server where everyone else is just trying to play. That should not be allowed, but they SHOULD allow people to run their own servers, with what ever settings they want, and just keep those servers in a separate list.

Exploits and stat "boosting" I don't really think deserve a ban though, I think a stat wipe would be the smarter move, or again like Valve did with TF2 when it caught people idling for items...they removed many of their items, and rewarded non-idlers with a free halo to wear.

COD series is a global marketing platform, it really isn't a game in my eyes. They are more concerned with putting a COD label on a bottle of Mountain Dew, a MW3 stick on a headset or mouse, or all kinds of gimmicky advertising ventures that go so far as to have Chrysler build them a Jeep Wrangler. That is not gaming...that is just selling useless shit on the back of what used to be a fun franchise. So frankly COD franchise has lost my support thanks to the pile of crap that is MW3, and they won't get my money again, certainly not Infinity Ward since they are the worst offender.

Frankly I think the only reason MW3 is even banning anyone is cause they know people will just go buy more keys or new copies of the game and thus giving them more money. I don't think it has anything to do with protecting the enjoyment of fans anymore. Perhaps I am just too jaded...
