Zalman started selling its AMP1000 aluminum-rubber mousepad. This mousepad uses a combination of anodized aluminum and rubber as its primary material. Its surface is optimized for all kinds of mice with resolutions well over 1000 dpi. Its surface has a smooth matte-black finish, and should present a balance between speed and control. A shiny chrome line frames it. The AMP1000 makes zero use of fabrics, and hence is spill-resistant. The AMP1000 measures 210(W) x 297(H) x 3(D) mm, weighing 668 g. Although its base is rubberized, the AMP1000 has rubber feet for additional grip with the surface below. The AMP1000 has reached Japanese stores, priced at 3,800 JPY, or about US $49.

I don't understand why companies think it's okay to charge this much for a freaking mouse pad.

Anything over $20 is a damn joke.

Quietpc has em for about $34. I've used a normal crappy mousepad or just my desktop for years but I just ordered the Titan aluminum mousepad from Geared in matte black for $29.95+shipping. It was a pretty hard choice though cause all of their colors look really good: Galactic Blue, Crimson Red, Natural Aluminum and Matte Black. Its a small company based in Miami, Florida and its all they make. Oh and the Titan is 10x12 compared to the Zalmans 8.2.x11.6 if that makes any difference to you.

P.S. First post! =)

50 buck isn't that bad if it last a long time, before i got my icemat i went though mouse pads about 1 a year it wasn't worth buying good ones that felt smooth, but after my icemat a little water to clean it and it's been good to me for many years now. I assume aluminum will last just as well as glass has. Don't care for cloth mousepads anymore or some rubber/plastic put on top of a thin metal sheet. I did messed with an aluminum mousepad before though, through a friend shit seemed loud, instead of the mouse scraping the mousepad the mosuepad scraped the mouse :D

Really Get a Steelseries Glass mat for $30 with much better feet on it and works perfectly with the added bonus that it could last you longer than a metal one.

Mines been totally sweet.
