According to Paul Allen, the self-proclaimed 'unofficial statistician' of Google+, Google's social project continued to see solid, double-digit growth in December, and managed to surpass 62 million users just after Christmas.
Given the current (estimated) sign-up rate of 625,000 per day (as a comparison, Andy Rubin confirmed about a week ago that Android as a platform has 700,000 activations/day), Google+ can reach 100 million users by the end of February (2012). But apparently this is just the tip of the sign-up iceberg…
"I expect the growth to continue to accelerate however. Google can continue to integrate Google+ into its other products and word of mouth will continue to build," says Paul Allen on a public Google+ post. "Based on the accelerated growth I'm seeing and all the dials and levers Google can still utilize, and the developer ecosystem that will be developed, I predict that 2012 is going to be a breakout year for Google+ and that it will end next year with more than 400 million users."
400 million users one year from now would certainly be a big achievement for Google+, but don't forget, this is an estimate (guesstimate), and 2012 could even spell trouble for Google's network. What's your take on Google+ - yay, or nay?
