also you can buy the barebone of it. Its a little bit expensive but quality seems to be there. Then you have to choose a mobo+cpu and the rest

That's not a fucking Amiga. It's just a PC with a label slapped on it. Fuck you, Barry Altman.

The only TRUE Amiga is the X1000.

What do you guys expect them to do? Put in a proprietary PowerPC (or whatever) based mainboard and make it useless to 99.9% of the "average joe" computer crowd?
The above wouldn't sell. At all.

no of course not, but those of us old enough to have used them on a daily basis remember they could do so much with so little and lasted years. this was all around how they were programmed maybe they could have at last done something with risc or maybe arm, to show us pc users how much power is being wasted. such a shame that 20 years later we see the great title of Commodore USA Releases First New Commodore Amiga in 20 Years and its a normal pc looking abit like an apple.

I still have my Commodore 64, Vic 20 and Amiga CD32..... thing is, I don't think they are trying anything more than packaging a reasonably specced PC into a compact but good looking case (so to speak), and why should they? It has worked fairly well in the past for Apple and many other OEM's such as Acer etc that have jumped on bandwagon's with varying degrees of success..... average users out there will pay a bit more for something that is aesthetically pleasing, they will never be "true" Amiga's etc unless they run their own software as they did before, but these days that would turn them into consoles  Not of course that I have anything personally against consoles, I even have a 360 that I use to put my ashtray and beer on in the conservatory! I am a convert.

commodore should have left the name amiga alone, if it was just commodore is back and building pc's then great i would buy commodore parts, but using the name amiga i saw commodore has released a amiga after 20 years looked down and saw Intel 2700k (how original) and various "normal" pc parts. this is sort of like AMD using the FX brand recently unless it did was the original did for the scene leave the name alone.
