More AMD Price Cuts Announced

AMD has published yet another set of price cuts this time for its mid- to high-end dual-core desktop CPUs, the Athlon 64 X2. The price cuts published on AMD's website today begin with the Athlon 64 X2 5600+, currently the top-end processor in the range, falling in price from US$505 to US$326, while the next highest model, the 5400+ is reduced even further from US$485 to US$267. The 5200+ and the two versions of the 5000+ (based on 90nm and 65nm processes) each see their prices cut by US$63, from US$295 to US$232 for the 5200+ and from US$285 to US$222 for both 5000+ models. Additionally, two single-core models, the Athlon 64 3800+ and 3500+, have also been reduced slightly by US$8 and US$3 respectively. yup, i've beamed up Pentium D's to even 4.6-5ghz, but still it gets beaten by the c2d's.

They all have their places... Thats why they continue to make Intel D 900s...

Good to hear on AMD, hopefully I can build some more amd systems now..

Just got a look at a pretty decent priced x2 3800+..
Now hopefully this customer will buy it so I can see the new x2's finally.

until amd get there new chips out,they have definatley gone from expensive(pre c2d) to budget(post c2d).for amd lovers the c2d was a windfall.

They are still too high. They are getting closer, but AMD is still overpricing their chips. They need to get the 4200+ down into the $130 range before it will be apealing to me. They have to offer signifacant savings before go with a much weaker chip becomes a good idea to me. Right now I would take the cheap PD 805 or 915 before going up to a 3600+ 3800+, if I was going cheap.

This is why AMD needs to remain in the position they are in now and where in long time ago. If AMD is allow to "out do" Intel the prices will once again increase. Intel will soon follow with their own price cuts (sooner or later). Now do you see!!!

I might have to go AMD with these prices. For some reason I keep seeing people saying they are getting up to 3gz with the new 3600+ and 4000+ x2 on newegg. Probably a rare occurrence though.
