RunCore Launches InVincible SSD with Physical Self-Destruction

12 gauge shotgun, my preferred method... one click - one pull, you even get the smoke.

What happened with the good ol' fashion HAMMER!?

To people talking about other methods, look at it this way: If you used a hammer, shotgun, pet, etc., the damage would be visible outside, and the people after the information would know you destroyed the drive. With this method, the drive appears perfectly fine from the outside, including its "warranty void if opened" seal.

What about the unmistakeable smell of burning electronics? I wonder if they cover this under warranty.3

Great way to avoid warranty claims. "This is no firmware fault, you just pushed the wrong button." Now try to argue that one.

With the push of a button you can destroy your whole PC too it seems. Just set it real high with half of it sitting on nothing.

Wasn't there a case recently involving some police officer busting into a guy's room for suspected possession of child pornography and the suspect simply sliced his PC in half with a Katana to "destroy" any incriminating digital evidence? In his underwear no less.

Bet he's cursing now at this product for showing up AFTER he was arrested.

For people commenting on the invincible name I'm pretty sure it referrs to the fact that your data becomes invincible to all recovery methods.

Invincible =/= invulnerable :)

...um what?

something is fishy. i dont think it'll become that hot and fry. i think instead of using 5V they leak the 12V into the circuit. hence frying the chips in it.
