GeCube Releases X1950XT AGP Graphics Card with X-Turbo Cooling

GeCube has launched a 256MB GDDR3 version of the ATI Radeon X1950XT graphics card for AGP 8X interface. According to GeCube the AGP 8X interface version of the card has the equal performance as the PCI-Express interface version. Based on ATI Radeon R580+(90nm) GPU and cooled by GECUBE's exclusive X-Turbo Thermo Electric Chip (TEC) cooling the card works at 648MHz, or can be slightly overclocked to 675MHz core speeds, while maintaing 70~80'C operating temps and 28dB noise levels. The X1950XT supports DirectX 9, Shader Model 3.0 and has 48 pixel pipelines. It also supports High Definition Content Protection (HDCP), Blu-ray, HD DVD, 1080i, and high-definition video output. Wow! Now that's really interesting. I'd love to see some benchmarks comparing a similar CPU, PCIe vs. AGP and see JUST HOW MUCH FASTER the PCIe is, or not! And if not, then I'll be laughing my head off at all those peeps who keep bashing AGP. (And shed a little tear for all the money they spent upgrading). LOL

There is minimal difference in performance.

The 8800GTX and or X2900XTX could possibly saturate the bus with the newer DX10 interface and a fast enough CPU. But we will see. The X1900XT and 7800GTX made little difference dropping down to 3X HT, thus limiting the PCI-E bus.

The more local memory and better caching will drop the amount of bandwidth useage, but possibly offloading physics to another card however.......

Just make sure to get the jumpers on the "uber card" position.

Right? I forgot about the jumpers. lol What IRQ should I be using? I don't want it to conflict with my 8bit soundcard!

Oh dear... 2 steps forward 3 back. Anything to make a dollar right? I wonder if any system running agp can keep up with the x1950xtx anyways.

Malware, this is an x1950XT, not an x1950XTX, might want to correct that in the headline. The extra X in the name following the x1950XT is actually GeCubes naming for their X-Series cards with the TEC cooling on them.

This is pretty awesome. I just hope its not outrageously priced, which face it, all video cards really are overpriced.

1-3% difference maybe. Anandtech has some benchmarks on that.
And I _AM_ an AGP basher myself although I have AGP.

And I'll laugh at YOU when you're trying to find good AGP boards for C2D.

I wonder if any system running agp can keep up with the x1950xtx anyways.

there are mobos with i865 or VIA chipsets that can run C2d with AGP. If I was mental enough to pay the money for it, I could install a P4 671 3.8Ghz on my PC (see spec box) and it would work just dandy with a X1950XT.

also there is a chance for dx10 graphic cards on AGP interface. And the chance of one or two are pretty good.

You're right! I won't be looking for a C2D, but a Quad Core Kentsfield, which will run on any of the following mainboards:

4CoreDual-VSTA
775i65G
ConRoe865PE

And in the process, I'll have saved $200 on memory and $200 on a GPU.

It's also a GREAT UPGRADE for all the AMD users out there on AGP platforms.

Damnit what is going on, First they say no more cards on AGP, then X1950Pro, now this.

we might indeed see a Dx10 AGP card.
