ZOTAC International, a global innovator and channel manufacturer of graphics cards, mainboards and mini-PCs, today continues the GeForce 600 series momentum with the new mainstream ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 graphics card for users that desire dedicated graphics and memory.

NVIDIA's Kepler architecture forms the heart of the ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 graphics card with new SMX unified shaders that deliver superior performance and energy efficiency. New NVIDIA Surround technology brings triple independent displays mainstream on the ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 to create a massive workspace for greater productivity and an immersive point of view.

"Our latest ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 introduces high end features such as NVIDIA Surround and SMX architecture that debuted with our GeForce GTX 600 series graphics card to the mainstream segment. They should just release the GDDR5 version already. This one is a waste of time.

Waste if time, yet it looks great in performance being around the 6670 with GDDR5. The GDDR5 might send many GTS450/550Ti s to eternal sleep, probably nvidia wants them to get out of stock first, then release a 3/4SMX+192bit bus GDDR5 GK10(6) kepler

Yet in the UK the GT640 DDR3 costs as much as HD7750 and HD6850 cards. In the Toms Hardware review the ancient HD6670 GDDR5 beats the GT640 in 4 out of the 7 games including BF3. The HD6670 GDDR5 is cheaper and still that is overpriced too.

Yea, getting closer to a 6670 is admirable, as this now Nvidia is back to being improving on the GT240 DDR5 from Nov 2009! And yes very wide of the mark if compared to the 7750, would be a good part if the had a $70-80 MSRP.
