DETSEL-01: Pocket-Sized x86 PC

Russian Communication Technology LTD. launched DETSEL-01, one of the smallest Intel x86-powered mini-PCs ever. Measuring just 125 x 74 x 12 mm (roughly the size of a Seagate GoFlex 2.5-inch portable HDD), the DETSEL-01 is driven by an Intel Atom E680 processor (1.60 GHz, single-core with HTT, 4.5W TDP), with 1 GB of DDR2-800 memory, with 128 GB or 64 GB SATA 3 Gb/s SSD handling storage, and an external 12V DC input powering it. Connectivity is aplenty, with 802.11 b/g/n, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, D-Sub display output (HDMI coming soon), stereo HD audio, and two USB 2.0 ports. The best part about this pocket-sized PC is its ability to run 32-bit Windows XP and Windows 7.

Edit: Screw that, why did they even pick the E680?! Why not go with the N2600? 2 Cores/4Threads, 64-bit, and lower TDP? WFT?!

The processor they picked only supports DDR2... It is an older generation of Atom.

It as good size to fit in your car as a true mobile entertainment system. With 12v from the car battery, wireless mouse/keyboard, and wireless bgn to hook up to hotspot mobile phones, usb monitors and your all set.

Any rumors about the pricing?

Few notes:
- D-Sub was a mistake
- 2GB ram, would make a huge difference with windows
- Newer Dualcore atom + DDR3 could be faster with lower power consumption

I believe a 32bit processor has less transistor count so it cost less. Unless you are telling me intel processors have 64bit capability disabled for "comercial" reasons...

Not sure about this but, intel had to pay AMD for the 64bit extensions license... but should intel pay for each model they make or just pay once and that applies to all their cpus?

Iirc they settled it in the court in 2009 with an extended patent cross-license agreement (Intel paid $1.25 billion to AMD).

I think you are right, but my "iirc" part was about that they also settled that x64 argument at the same time, so Intel can use EM64T while AMD can use x86, they still license those technologies, but do not pay to each other. (AMD still pays for SSE3 and other stuffz btw)

This was a long time ago, so please forgive me if my memory failed me and this is not correct. I will look after it as soon as I will have some time.

Sir, please allow my explanation here. We adapt Atom E-series CPU for industrial use, these processors are mainly designed to apply in IPC industry. However, for being more accessible to the general end users, we are going to have our RAYDGET-02(original DETSEL) w/ D2550/N2600/N2800, DDR3 RAM...For more info., you are more than welcome to write me a mail.

What is the possible need with a x64 bit processor in something this size? I believe the specs are spot on for something designed to be used as a HTPC, kids pc, or internet browsing PC.
