Arctic Unveils Accelero Twin Turbo 690 VGA Cooler for GeForce GTX 690

Arctic unveiled its newest graphics card cooler, the Accelero Twin Turbo 690, for NVIDIA's top-of-the-line GeForce GTX 690 dual-GPU graphics card. The cooler offers 14% lower temperatures, and more importantly, 92% lower noise output at maximum load. The Accelero Twin Turbo 690 is a complex cooler, which uses a pair of primary heatsinks that make contact with the two GK104 GPUs, in combination with a secondary heatsink that draws heat from memory, bridge chip, VRM, and other hot ancillary components, which are ventilated by a pair of 120 mm 400-1500 RPM PWM-controlled fans.

The Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo measures about 288 (L) x 138 (W) x 50 (H) mm, and weighs about 800 g. As such, it doesn't make your GTX 690 much thicker than two expansion card slots would allow. It uses as many as ten 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes to transport heat from the bases to the various heatsinks. The cooler has a maximum thermal capacity of 400W. Arctic plans to make the Accelero Twin Turbo 690 available by 10th of September, priced at US $169.95.

Performance/functionality wise this cooler hands down beats the stock, no arguing that..

i'd only wish for better looks when compared to the brilliant, high-quality stock design..

Oh boy, another accelero xtreme 4870x2/5970 disaster. And they even doubled the price.

If I could afford a GTX 690, and I was comfortable with removing and replacing the stock cooler, I'd be water cooling it. Especially since waterblocks for it can be had for cheaper than this cooler goes for.

the stock cooler looks so much nicer than this. I agree with newtekie1 I would go with water cooling then.

The price seems rather high, but I have little doubt its better than the stock cooler, but I guess that when buying a $1200 GPU another hundred dollars or 2 isn't that big of deal.

Seems ever since Arctic Cooling had a management change, Arctic have lost the man attraction about their products which was great value.

Arctic Cooling products have always been ugly.

Now they are expensive and ugly.
In this case, not much in the way of temperature reduction either.

A shame really.

If you're really serious about temperatures you'd most likely be watercooling it.



So most people who would buy a product like this (for such a video card) would probably do it to reduce the noise.
