OCZ Deneva 2 Gain QNAP TurboNAS Certification

The addition of Deneva 2 SSDs into QNAP's Turbo NAS peripherals compatibility list represents the first successful enterprise certification of OCZ SSDs into this platform and the third successful certification of OCZ SATA III SSDs, joining OCZ Vertex 3 and Agility 3 SSDs on the list.

With the industry's fastest transactional performance for SATA III-based drives, Deneva 2 SSDs deliver up to 80,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) performance (random 4K writes) and a maximum bandwidth of 550 MB/s. such generalisation is simply wrong. OCZ forums give pretty good support if youre willing to go to them, and they also RMA their broken stuff pretty easily.

I agree, all reputation was about sandforce problem, and OCZ were the first to give a firmware that solve it if I remember.

I have a OCZ Agility 2 240gb in my work laptop, 9 months 27 days, always working.

You are an outlier then. OCZ's problems are not all firmware and third-party controller based. My coworker in my office bought a Vertex 2 which failed in about 3 months, but not to the point where he couldn't flash the drive to a new firmware. So he flashed the drive to the latest firmware and got another 3 months of use out of it before it totally failed. This is not an uncommon experience with OCZ drives. Even the Vertex and Agility 4 (especially the Agilities) are experiencing high failure rates. I wanted to consider the Vertex 4 or Agility 4 line, but there is still too much risk.

It depends on what your priority would be. Do you want more space? Go with the HDDs. Do you want faster load times? Go with the SSDs. Or you could just buy 2 128gb SSDs and go RAID 0 for speed (that's if 256gb will be enough)and 1 4tb HDD for space...

It was actually Intel that really pushed to find the problem. OCZ just implemented the solution into their firmware.

OCZ drives might be fast, but id rather have a middle ground. Reliability and Speed which is why i got the Samsung 830 as my main OS drive will my Vertex 2 was out for RMA

Then pray tell me, what was the point other than you presented a grand total of one (1) thread about a guy running WinXP SP2, heavy workload, and four (4) user reviews saying the drives failed. Yes, OCZ does have the highest failure rate and I probably wouldn't buy one of their SSDs, but you have to provide information.

It's the internet. Google anything about user opinion and reviews and you'll find whatever you want. I have two OCZ drives in my system, I have friends with OCZ drives in their systems... From the people I know, figure it is around 15 drives in total. They all work. Good enough for me.

OCZ is one of many vendors that use SandForce controllers and they have been at the forefront of the issue, working directly with SandForce and affected users to pinpoint the problem.

OCZ was selling alot of drive, some could have real failure other could be only firmware and I know alot of people with OCZ, Corsair or other, when they had a BSOD' returned the SSD to the company, which count in the failure rate ...

Sorry to tell ya this, but the shop where I grab alot of parts sold alot of OCZ PSU, and had low failure rate.. I sold a friend a modxstream Pro 700w, which is still running since 2 years, my Z-850 is still running..

failure rate of everything, if OCZ was that bad, it would be dead since a long time ago...

That's just interesting.
It's not statistics.

There are actual polls on several forums that show majority of SSD users have had no problems. And those polls usually bias for those that have had problems, as surely, many people having no problems have little interest in researching the matter.

Sorry to tell ya this, but the shop where I grab alot of parts sold alot of OCZ PSU, and had low failure rate.. I sold a friend a modxstream Pro 700w, which is still running since 2 years, my Z-850 is still running..

They could have been the first one to release the fix, but Intel pushed hard to find a fix.

Basically OCZ and Intel had their own problems with their drives, and they were both able to fix it with firmware fixes when it came to Sand Force.
