Monster Digital, a leading innovator and developer of advanced memory and storage solutions, is broadening its selection of Solid State Drives (SSD), making it easier for just about anyone to adopt leading-edge SSD technology with its new ultra-high speed "Daytona Series" Solid State Drives. The 2.5" Daytona Series SSDs are conservatively rated with 550/515 read/write speeds, 60k IOPS, are over provisioned for extended reliability. Packaged in a super thin 7 mm universal fit stainless steel case, they are available as bare drives in capacities of 90GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB for suggested retail prices of $99.99, $109.99, $229.99, and $479.99 respectively. Monster Digital Daytona Series bare drives are available now on Amazon.com, at Fry's Electronics and PC Mall.

Easy Installation Kit for a Simple DIY Computer Upgrade Experience
The 120GB, 240GB and 480GB Daytona Series drives are also available with the industry's best and most straightforward Do-It-Yourself (DIY) "Easy Installation Kit." The kit allows just about anyone to install their new SSD on their own without hiring a computer tech or leaving their laptop at a service center. The all-inclusive kit contains everything needed to safely, quickly and easily upgrade. The package includes easy-to-follow cloning software, an SATA 3/USB 3.0 adapter, 3.5" drive bay adapter, and quick start guide. It also includes a link to a helpful installation video and even a screwdriver with all the bits necessary to safely and securely install the new SSD drive in just about any computer. Notably, the kit duplicates a computer's existing hard drive onto the SSD, ensuring a seamless transition and an exact clone of all data. Once installed, users enjoy their exact same computer and data - only thanks to its new SSD drive, it's incredibly faster and has longer battery life! The Daytona Series upgrade kit is available for a suggested retail price of $134.99 (for 120GB), $234.99 (for 240GB), and $484.99 (for 480GB). The Easy Installation Kit configurations will be available at the end of September at Amazon.com and Fry's Electronics.

Dramatically Faster Than Magnetic Drives, Total Reliability and Security
Monster Digital's SSDs are 5x faster than conventional 7,200 RPM Hard Disc Drives and 10x as reliable. Notably, because there are no moving parts and are over provisioned Daytona provides fantastic reliability and touts a 2,000,000 hour MTBF.

Thanks to their low power consumption, Daytona drives provide significantly longer battery life. Power consumption is <5W active and <200mW inactive. Users also enjoy the peace of mind that comes with airtight data security via 256-bit AES encryption. Even compared to most competitors SSDs on the market the "Daytona" series are more reliable with more consistent speed due to Reduced Write Amplification and Over Provisioning. Monster Digital SSDs also support TRIM and come with a 3-year warranty.

Monster Digital CEO Jay Tandon noted: "Demand for high-performance SSDs continues to build among today's computer users. Everyone wants faster access speeds, longer laptop battery life and the reliability only SSDs can offer. With our new Daytona Series, we are providing an easily accessible, high-speed option for reliable storage with significantly lower energy consumption and silent operation compared to conventional HHD drives. They are the ideal choice for people who want the very best performance and efficiency. Our new Daytona drives are especially well suited to laptops. If your Ultrabook doesn't have an SSD, install a Daytona drive with our upgrade kit today. You'll be amazed at your computer's new performance."

Monster Digital is owned by Monster Cable ... :banghead:

Also: "Monster Digital, a leading innovator and developer of advanced memory and storage solutions" lol, and it's a newly founded company.

And they will charge 150x more than normal SSDs in the same performance and size category, they will justify this by claiming the gold plating on the SATA connector gives improved video quality when watching video from the drive.

$485 for 480 Gb is amazing

i literally

But you can already find 480G at around 300$...
You can get a Plextor M3 with 512GB and a Marvell controller for 370$ on newegg...

yea but those cheap ones are HALF the IOPS

They will also say that the improve video quality can only be seen if you use one of their special SATA cables, which also have gold plated connectors, and cost $150 for a 4" cable.

People of course will buy them and talk about how they can definitely see the difference over standard SSDs and SATA cables. They will talk down to anyone that doesn't believe Monster SSDs and SATA cables are better than normal SSDs and SATA cables that cost a lot less. They will say things like "you just haven't seen how much better it is, so you can't know" and "once you put out the money, you'll know what I'm talking about" and "I can't really explain how it looks better, but I know it does somehow".:D

Yeah, but for $430 I can get a 480GB SSD that gives 130K IOPS, 1,000MB/s Reads, and 925MB/s Writes... Asking $500 for the 480GB drive puts them way out of the ballpark on pricing. I mean, I was just joking, I didn't really look at the pricing when I made that first comment, but it seems it really is true, they are way overpriced.

Don't forget you will need your gold plated hdmi cable and then their power brick that gives you clean energy and so on...

SSD's? Really?

Time to stop going on the internet, I've just seen it all.

Being a Monster product, I'm surprised the pricing isn't extremely high. They're managing nearly $1 per gigabyte MSRP, which isn't terrible but not great either.
Considering Monster doesn't usually make what they sell, it makes me wonder who the OEM for these is...

Let's see some performance data on these, The prices aren't as horrible as Monster's usually are, but I bet the performance is abysmal.

I bet those SSDs only work with Monster's very own patetnted platinum plated SATA cables with harmonic multi-dimensional transducer.

Monster is the same company as the one that produce that toxic drink?

The gold plated, shielded ,braided,100% oxygen free, vacuum packed sata desktop cables for this will be $300

LOL, you made me look!

No Monster SATA cables on their site unfortunately :(

I dare you to post a link! Double dare!! :twitch:

PS
A drive that is bootable that is...

Fast PCI-e card. But what about sata3 ones?
Isnt that raid speeds built in.

Well the fact is you'll never see anywhere near those speeds on a single SATA3 drive because it is impossible. Yes, it is built in RAID, but who cares? It is a single drive that is way faster in every way than these for less money. If performance is really what you are after, you'd have to be an idiot to consider one of these monster drives over the Revodrive.
