GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today launched its latest FM2 series motherboards supporting next generation AMD A-Series APUs. The GIGABYTE F2A85X-UP4, the flagship of the GIGABYTE FM2 series, incorporates GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 5 technology, digital power delivery and other exclusive features that guarantee you're getting the most from AMD's new 'Trinity' technology.

"A number of new features and technologies make their debut on the AMD platform, including Ultra Durable 5 technology, Dual UEFI 3D BIOS, Digital Power delivery, triple display support and Lucid Virtu MVP," commented Tim Handley, Deputy Director of Motherboard Marketing at GIGABYTE. "These new FM2 series motherboards offer outstanding value for any DIY builder looking to harness the improved performance of AMD's Trinity APUs."

The GIGABYTE F2A85X-UP4 - Maximizing Trinity Performance
The flagship GIGABYTE FM2 series motherboard comes in the shape of the GIGABYTE F2A85X-UP4 motherboard, designed to push AMD A-Series APUs to the limit with GIGBAYTE Ultra Durable 5 technology. Digital power controllers ensure high capacity, high current power delivery which, when coupled with high speed memory support, combine to push the onboard AMD 7000 series graphics processor to the absolute maximum.

Tested and Verified on HWBOT.org
Respected overclocker and HWBot.com aficionado, Massman, managed to push the AMD A10 5800K APU to achieve a 3DMark Vantage Performance score of over 10,000 points; better performance than many discrete graphics cards available today, proving the extreme value offered by the new AMD FM2 series platform. You can check out Massman's submission on HWBot.com here: http://hwbot.org/submission/2316144.

Dual APU Clock Generators
Non-K Model AMD APUs have a locked multiplier which can severely limit potential overclocking. GIGABYTE FM2 series motherboards are equipped with an additional APU bus frequency generator that allows a much higher clock ceiling, making GIGABYTE FM2 series motherboards the best choice for overclocking and tweaking AMD A-Series APUs.

GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 5
The latest GIGABYTE FM2 motherboards are the first AMD motherboards to incorporate several exclusive GIGABYTE technologies including the latest Ultra Durable 5 technology. Featuring High Current Capable components including the industry's highest rated 60A IR3550 PowIRstage ICs, GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 5 motherboards provide the best quality power delivery to the CPU for record-breaking performance, cool and efficient operation and extended motherboard lifespan.

GIGABYTE 3D BIOS
New GIGABYTE FM2 series motherboards are the first AMD platform motherboards to feature the excusive GIGABYTE 3D BIOS, providing a slick UEFI interface with two exclusive modes of interaction tailored for needs of both enthusiast and novice users.

Digital Power
The GIGABYTE F2A85X-UP4 motherboard features an exclusive Digital Engine, setting it apart from the competition with digital controllers that provide more precise power delivery to both CPU and GPU parts of the AMD APU.

Triple Display Support - AMD Eyefinity
GIGABYTE FM2 series motherboards are the first to take advantage of AMD Eyefinity technology, allowing users to extend their OS desktop by connecting up to three high-resolution digital displays. Triple displays mean more real-estate for enhanced productivity, plus the ability to enjoy panoramic triple screen 3D gaming thanks to AMD's optimized Eyefinity driver technology.

AMD A-Series Platform Overview
The revised AMD FM2-Series platform is based on the latest FM2 socket, supporting new AMD APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) based on the AMD 'Trinity' architecture. The new top-end AMD A10 series combine up to 4 cores with the latest 7000 series graphics core, offering a balanced, visually enhanced user experience.

30% Performance Boost over Previous Generation
The latest AMD 7000 series graphics embedded in all Trinity APUs bring 3D gamers up to 30% better 3D performance compared to previous the generation. This makes the new FM2 platform a great option for mainstream 3D gaming applications, with Microsoft DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.2 and OpenCL 1.1 support helping to deliver a 3D gaming experience similar to discrete graphics card solutions.

AMD Dual Graphics: Unrivalled Upgradability
The new AMD FM2-Series platform also features AMD Dual Graphics technology, allowing users to further boost 3D graphics and gaming performance by adding an additional specific discrete AMD Radeon HD 6000 series graphics card to the system, boosting frame rates by simultaneously utilizing the processing power of both discrete and onboard graphics processors.

F2 was enough moniker to make it different from the FM1 boards, no need to have a A85 in it less if the chipset has been changed totally.

I looked up A75 vs A85X because the only announced mini-itx FM2 board uses A75 -- 2 less sata ports, no raid5, and no crossfire. No big deal to me.

While the boards do look fine... I hope they're (the MB makers in general) are not planing on flooding even the FM2 market with a lot of overpriced nonsense, like the socket 1155 one has...

the 3d part of the BIOS is a model of the actual board, that is teh advanced mode.

Also FM2 is a different socket than FM1.
