Intel Readies Nine Socket LGA1150 Desktop Boards for Q2-2013

Intel's 4th generation Core processor family will introduce socket LGA1150, and 8-series chipset. The company's own Desktop Board division plans as many as nine motherboard models for March 2013. The three 8-series chipset models making up the lineup are Z87 (high connectivity options, overclocking features), H87 (high connectivity options), and Q87 (essential connectivity, enterprise client features).

Intel plans as many as four motherboard models on the overclocking-ready Z87 chipset, two each in the Extreme Series and Media Series. The Extreme Series models include the DZ87KLT-75K "Kinsley Thunderbolt," DZ87KL-70K "Kinsley" (sans Thunderbolt); the Media Series models include DZ87CA-55K "Carryville," and DZ87CO-50K "Colebrook." The H87 lineup includes DH87MC "Meadow Creek," DH87RL "Round Lake," and DH87FB "Flat Bay." Among the Q87-based models are the DQ87RG "Rainbow Ridge" and DQ87PG "Spring Cave." And I was just fixing to buy a Z77 motherboard,.....

The company's own Desktop Board division plans as many as nine motherboard models for March 2013.

This is a little confusing. I’m unsure what this might mean because the “Embargo Date” in the chart above is listed as Q2 2013 and March is in Q1.

All SATA 6Gbps... shame they didn't add additional ports, as Intel will stick to 6 ports, whereas AMD's new (and otherwise in general uninteresting) A85X chipset manages to offer 8 native SATA 6Gbps ports...

AMD does that with FIS-based switching. Think of that as a glorified port multiplier.

Ahhhh,…but Intel is doing interesting things like adding support for TRIM in RAID 0 configuration with their latest chipsets.

I thought DDR4 wasn't expected in consumer standards till Q1 2014.

Aparently intel has diffrent plans,any ways this is strictly for server variant of haswell so it means nothing to most of us.

Yeah, I'm just concerned when I will have to buy new ram with my new mobo and chip.


I just hope they release a Mini ITX board on the Z78KLT-75k chipset shortly after launch.

With the prices of ram these days i really wouldent be worried about it,even when DDR4 Does hit mainstream,it might need abit of time to catch up to/significantly outperform current DDR3 memory which offers more than enugh bandwith as it is for most users.

Yeah I'm running some DDR3 2133 @ 2200, and there is a serious improvement over the DDR3 of yesteryear.

Still if I have to upgrade to DDR4, no biggie.
