So they were hoping for a vista re-release to catch people needing to upgrade ram to make their OS run smooth.

I wouldn't say 3 to 4 times, but they are slowly getting back to their pre-Thailand-flood prices.

i feel that an OS that is efficient and not heavy on resource load is great, DRam COmpanies should cater to server markets more often

Yo, the slowest RAM, DDR-200, has a rate of 1600MB/s. That Aeon card is only 750MB/s, even slower than some PCI-Express SSDs.
I am not sure, but the PCI-ex buss can take 8GB/s, so actually if you have some cheap DDR3-1066 modules, you'll have more speed than the PCI express bus...
