Acer America today announced that its new Acer C7 Chromebook is available now through additional online retail partners: TigerDirect, NewEgg and Staples.com, in addition to the existing Google Play, BestBuy.com and Best Buy stores.

The Acer C7 Chromebook mobile computer debuted earlier this month and has quickly gained popularity for providing customers an easy-to-use, speedy and secure computing experience at an affordable price of only $199 MSRP.

"Our customers' enthusiastic response to the Acer C7 Chromebook has encouraged more of our e-tail partners to make them available for purchase online -- just in time for anyone looking for a great holiday gift for a loved one or yourself," said Scott Ledterman, vice president of retail, Acer America. "The extra low price of only $199 is so affordable that customers can even buy them as stocking stuffers for multiple people on their shopping list."

The Acer C7 mobile computer is designed for families, students and other computer users who spend much of their computing time online, such as shopping, paying bills and keeping up via email and social networks. The notebook's built-in security features are automatically updated to defend it against malware and viruses.

The new Chromebook runs Google's Chrome operating system, which is easy-to-use and navigate, giving customers access to thousands of apps and games in the Chrome Web Store. The Acer C7 boots quickly and resumes nearly instantly from sleep mode. It comes with integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi, so customers can quickly connect to hotspots and wireless networks.

The Acer C7 is portable and sleek for today's on-the-go mobile lifestyle. It weighs only 3.05 pounds and measures a mere one inch thin, so it can be easily taken anywhere as it fits into a backpack, briefcase or purse. The slim size still houses a vibrant 11.6-inch display and a full-sized keyboard. Plus, Acer Chromebook customers are offered up to 100 GB of free Google Drive storage for the first two years after purchase, so files, documents, photos and more are stored safely in the cloud even if the Acer C7 is lost, damaged or stolen.

Pricing, Availability and Warranty

The Acer C710 is available now for purchase at TigerDirect, NewEgg and Staples.com in the United States for $199.00.

The new Acer C7 comes with a standard one-year parts and labor warranty, which can be extended to three years with the Acer Advantage service. All Acer Chromebooks are backed by toll-free service and support.

Microsoft is getting chipped at piece by piece right now. Ballmer needs to be fired and they need new leadership effective immediately. The only reason they haven't is because it would send HUGE warning signals to every investor on the market.

All the Chromebooks are, are laptops with cheap components, no HDD, small amount of RAM and weak CPU as nothing is installed or run locally all apps are simply web apps/html5 etc run from the browser which is the Chrome OS.

Yes, but the fact that such a simple and stupid machine is gaining grounds through OEM maker Acer is bad for Microsoft.

Microsoft laptop sells are bismal to say the least. Apple is dominating them with every step they take in the mobile deparment. Macbook, iPad, iPhone, and iPod... The rest of the pie is getting gobbled up by Google with their liscensed Android platform.

Intel CEO just got fired because of the slowness they reacted to the mobile world. This is real. Ballmer lives in a fantasy world where he downplays every product launch.

What are you talking about, for a start MS doesn't manufacture laptops if you mean laptops with Windows I would hazard a guess and say these are outselling both Apple macbook and Google Chromebook put together considering how many different windows laptops there are from masses of different manufacturers, I really think MS has no reason to worry about the Chromebook.

There always upto date because it's just a web browser, the Chromebook sales have not been any where as good as what Google had hoped for and projected. Heck you can get a $200 tablet that will be able to out perform these aswell as play 3d games, 1080p videos and give you local storage. One place where they have been sucessful for the very reasons you mentioned is in schools as their very easy to manage and hard for the pupils to break (software wise), easy to replace etc though for home consumers as mentioned a tablet or even a netbook would be a far superior device.

Lol would you really assume that I am calling MS a manufacture of laptops? No... That is why I am referencing OEMs. OEMs are responding to Google's platoform because they are having success with it. You may be looking at the present, but Google is looking at the future. Microsoft sales are down company wide and Google sees this. Google is trying to get in on this pie.

Acer is both an OEM of Microsoft and an OEM of Google. They see the sales rising with the chrome book. This article doesn't state, due to Windows 8, Acer is expanding its sales. NO, in fact it says Acer expands sales of popular Chromebook. This is bad for Microsoft.

The number of Chromebook sales to Windows laptops sales is likely no where even close, yes they are expanding their sales but it doesn't mention from what and to what and having followed the Chromebook sales over the last year it's not a cause for concern for anyone let alone MS.

By January 2012, commercial sales for Chromebooks were flat, with the exception of the education market. Google had placed nearly 27,000 Chromebooks in schools across 41 states, including "one-on-one" programs, which allocate a computer for every student, in South Carolina, Illinois, and Iowa.[40] As of August 2012, over 500 school districts in the United States and Europe were using the device, as well as universities, corporations and government facilities.[41][42]

From wikipedia, 27'000 Chromebooks sold to schools their biggest market, compare that to how many millions of laptops were probably sold this year so far. And they were likely sold at a discount/educational pricing model.

Yes but Apple is chipping away at this too. HP and DELL are lossing value year after year because of slow sales. Apple sales increase year over year. Google sales are beginning to rise. It is a cause for concern because tablets get factored in there too. Many people simply aren't buying laptops anymore. Tablets are huge. Microsoft was slow to this and the price points for what they are offering is ridiculous.

Bottom line is Microsoft is losing signficant ground in the mobile world year over year.

Whilst I agree MS are losing ground in the mobile arena, this is more down to tablets and smart phones, Chromebooks have no significance in your fact.

And I wouldn't really say Surface prices are ridiculous considering the x86 version has the specs of an ultrabook in tablet form factor however average joe isn't likely to know this and will likely buy an ipad or other tablet which probably has a quarter of the processing power of the surface.
