With its 4th generation Core "Haswell" processor lineup not too far away, Intel is making efforts to clear inventories of its 2nd generation Core "Sandy Bridge" one. Usually, OEMs on the receiving end of such a move stand to score truckloads of chips at discounted prices. Samsung is one such OEM, which may have bagged a ton of "Sandy Bridge" Core i5-2450M dual-core chips clocked at 2.50 GHz, to deploy in its new premium Chromeboxes, which normally use entry-level Celeron B840 chips, because you can't exactly use Chrome OS to play Crysis, and so you don't need a faster CPU. The new, faster Chromebox is listed on Amazon for $423, bearing the SKU "Samsung Chromebox XE300M22-A01US."

$329 nets you the celeron version...

I don't know much about google chrome, but this little box makes me want to find out. I like it, but I also like the NUC from Intel...probably going to wait and see what type of Haswell NUC Intel offers...and run with it. I've heard people complaining about the fan levels in the current units...not sure how bad it really is I haven't heard one in person.

CES 2013: Intel Announces Three Future NUC Systems, Coming Later This Year

Apparently Intel is making a cheaper NUC with an Celeron 847 and a higher-end NUC with a Core i5 (USB 3.0, triple monitor, and vPro support) due in April 2013

it looks cool, but isn't that price a tad bit high for what is essentially a browser? why not buy a notebook for that price and at least have the ability to carry it around with you.

Price dropped $9 overnight...
I'm guessing it's not selling at all...

Besides being overpriced and overpowered for a cloud device couldn't they have given it a good audio video capability so at least you could watch or listen to Google Play's music or TV shows with quality...

I'm honestly lost at why anyone would even want something like this when you can buy a UG802 or MK809 for about $50 that will have essentially the same function...
