They basically have to give them away for free. They really aren't making much off of consoles, if that were the case they would have made a fortune when the Wii sold tens of millions of units, but they didn't.

Nobody really expected Wii to be a big hit. Even Nintendo were going to call it quits at first. I guess ATI didn't negotiate as hard as they should have per unit.

Now my wife is unemployed and I got laid off and got a new job making a little over half of what I used to. I also have two more kids then I did at the time. We had to move out of our 275k house and leave Miami. I was doing very well before people realized all the loop holes in NAFTA and outsourced half my industry to South America.

And if I said it was a "few grand" before 14k is a "few grand". Ive always said 14k sir.

the lesson is don't ever invest in a tech company unless you are willing to lose it all. even the big companies like AMD are full of fail. maybe one day they will hire better management and get more aggressive.

I believe that actually would have been a smart move at the time, I believe their stock jumped quite a bit in the Athlon 64 days, would have made decent money as long as you sold before Phenom I.

To me it has to do more with core 2 technology released, at the time phenom 1 wanted to catch up with that. I still own my 9550. it was a pitty they screw it up the 00s
