AMD offers better value for crunchers (BOINC) right now. I have found as well that games run pretty smooth with my 7970's as it did with my 580's.
Nvidia GPU's can not even come close to the crunching power of AMD GPU's:) Granted not all are into crunching, but some of us are:toast:
Personally I do not care about game bundles offered with either vendor...

Its not a bad move cmmon,.... its stuff that supposedly has value...

But well if the game is pay2win then its not for me...

And since we have a little nvidia-amd war on this thread... I'm replaying Skyrim with mods that have my card loaded to 2.4-2.9GB vRam... Can nvidia do that? noooo... :D (unless u pay £500 for 4GB versions lol)

Crytek are going this route too with F2P games, helps when AMD throw money at them too [for a change] I guess.

are you mad on what amd did with their free bundled AAA title games offering?

yeah, giving their customer with three (popular?) free games in-game currency worth $50 is totally joke while they made a huge profit. funny, they already sucked my money

it gives buyers of new GeForce GTX graphics cards $75~$150 worth in-game currency in three of the biggest free-to-play online multiplayer titles, Planetside 2, Hawken, and World of Tanks.

I'd be extremely happy if a good soul will donate his WoT code to me. :D

I can`t believe some people are defending nvidia for their overpriced, slower GPU`s with no games vs the faster, cheaper GPU`s with proper games that you could sell for real money lol

AMD are bashed for their CPU line around here, and their poor drivers in the GPU's. On the other hand Nvidia is bashed for being "severely overpriced". I just don't think people should stop pretending bundling a game or two with a Graphics Card makes it a better product. Honestly, they could give me 5 brand new games and I probably wouldn't buy an AMD card this generation (I almost bought a 7970 before I got my 670) until they fix the frame latency and poor driver support problems that have plagued them for several generations now (and affected me through an X800, HD4870, and HD5850).

Forum Guidelines say no personal attacks :p

Xenocide, please stop being a fanboy. Adding REAL games that I can play or gift/trade/sell is much better than giving in game currency for games I probably don't play.

Adding free AAA titles to a graphics card doesn't make the card better, it makes the value of the purchase higher for the same money. Don't you want to get the most out of your money? If not, just pay me 20% tax when you buy hardware to offset this value.

I don't understand why people complain about AMD giving out free stuff lol.

Sorry game currency, offering what amounts to "points" to acquire some "additional "content in F2P games is not anything close to being a "tangible" as coupons for relatively new gaming titles that are sold retail. Next do most buyer looking at this offer necessarily know what those point can really attain them in those games. I mean 25 points, might get you a cool M249 SAW and some plate amour big whoop. But that has you dropping a $130 on card to get that, when your probably not stressing the card you have now? While if I'm buying a 670 I want to use it playing with pre-teens just braking into gaming on some laptop! :wtf:

I guarantee AMD has a much higher expense to the Game House Developer(s) than Nvidia outlays for "point/currency" from F2P Developers. Heck, I'll bet that Nvidia almost got such points "gratis", just for the huge "exposure" those F2P Developers know they’ll pick-up, plus Nvidia saying they'll throw in some added engineering help.

Could we see this as somewhat a "slap in the face"... In that either Nvidia’s TWIMTBP sponsored Game Houses were feeling Nvidia wasn't looking to adequately reimburse for their content (games)! Or, Nvidias' relations aren’t as strong as they once where? I mean to help such lower tier developers means they'll pull market share from companies in the true "retail" side of the market. If I was from one of the those TWIMTBP Game developer how do see that?

Either way it’s really pathetic way to respond to AMD. And shows a certain desperation in that Nvidia won’t/can’t understand they’re in a competitive market, and such slight-of-hand may well exacerbate there discriminating customer base.

So, YOU probably wouldn't play them really only makes it applicable to YOU and anyone else with a similar viewpoint. What about people who would/do play them? Does their choice automatically not count ?

Some people might judge "getting the most out of their money" by not have to wait half a year for a "magic bullet" driver to deliver on the performance promise- for example.
It's just as well that these people exist, because without them, Nvidia wouldn't be selling consumer graphics. Or is a monopoly OK if its AMD who control it?

I was replying to xenocide's point of saying it's equal to AMD's offer. Which it is not. Another way of looking at this is that much less people will find this attractive than a REAL game. I can play my games after i bought them for years and years. I can't play these F2P game when it shuts down and it is based entirely on multiplayer experience online. There are plenty of games where people put real money in these games and lose it after the companies decides they are not profitable to keep maintaining it.
FYI, I still play the old Command and Conquer series once in a while through LAN. I still play Starcraft, Resident Evil, FFVII, etc... If those were F2P titles then it wouldn't be possible.

Huh? are you saying AMD's drivers are worse than NVIDIA's? because realistically AMD and NVIDIA both have quality drivers. I have both 660gtx and 7850 so I know from my experience right in front of my face. I don't care which what brand it is, I only support the best value and the AMD's bundle is a better value. I'm sure most people would agree with me.
As far as pricing goes without the bundles, their relative performance matches their price on both camps. The values differs only when you start comparing OC potential of certain cards.

You mean like this thread where people are complaining about Nvidia giving out free stuff? LOL * %u221E

I like free stuff too. But this free stuff isn't really free. But if you had the chance to pick free stuff with your ~$200 card then which would you pick. I'm sure an overwhelming people would pick the AAA titles instead of currency in a game they might play. Like I said, I can sell FC3, AC3, etc...(whatever new games they bundle with) to someone for $10-20 easily. I can sell game currency also but it's a bit more work. NVIDIA's bundle is just less attractive. Why can't you just admit that?
I love free stuff but I have to pay something to get this free bundle. I might as well choose the one with the most relative "value" to the most people including me.

I'm usually not a big fan of F2P titles, Planetside 2 was not too bad but wore out fast. Path of Exiles so far is just plain outstanding, making me wonder why Blizzard could not do something like this with all their resources, not raggin on D3 I like both. But I do agree. I'd rather get AAA titles when spending $250+ on a videocard to play console ports. Gimme Far Cry 3, and Dishonored etc...

Basically why I sprung for a GTX670. I hadn't been able to properly update the drivers on my HD5850 the entire time I owned it, so I wanted to give Nvidia a shot and the GTX670 was really impressive at launch. *shrug*

I've owned way more a ton of cards from both camps and the only time I saw a difference in driver quality was back during the HD2000 series and back. There are certain TWIMTBP titles that are just heavily optimized for NVIDIA and sometimes intentionally crippled/buggy for AMD.

Techpowerup in a nutshell;
AMD Offers Free Games With GPUs: ZOMG THIS IS THE GREATEST THING SINCE ELECTRICTY I'LL BUY 28 7970'S NOW!?!?

Nvidia Offers Free Currency For Hugely Popular Games With GPUs: How fucking sad an pathetic, Nvidia is shit.

:banghead:

AMD Offers

FacrCry 3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider and some money off Medal of Honor.

AMD offers all that on top of less expensive graphics cards.

xenocide said:
The point is, decisions to buy hardware should be driven by who offers a better product, not who packages the most random crap with it. Having DmC won't make an HD7950 outperform a GTX660Ti, so it's largely irrelevant. I just find it humorous that people take it as some indication of the quality of the company or product. The games Nvidia is offering currency for are very popular. Planetside 2 and World of Tanks already have a ton of players, and are doing very well under the F2P model, so I guarantee that $75-150 in currency for a game people already love and play, is just as valuable as a newer game in their mind.

Better product? That depends. I not only game but I also do a heck of a lot of OpenCL programming and of course Bitcoin. Better product? Well that's by far AMDs Radeon lineup is it not? I mean a GeForce GTX 680 hashes at around 100MH/s while a Radeon HD 5670 does the same. So better product is relative.

For a gamer extra perks do help I mean that's why nVIDIA have PhysX, however, PhysX is generally useless (except maybe in Borderlands 2), therefore a gaming bundle is generally viewed as being of larger benefit than PhysX (gamers getting some of the latest games bundle with their Graphics Card for less money than the competition?!). Coupling Bitcoin performance with the bundle is why I've moved entirely towards AMDs Radeon lineup.

As for your comment about better drivers... heh... that's funny. nVIDIA and AMD drivers both irk me for differing reasons at differing times. nVIDIA drivers like to fail and restart, AMD drivers have a knack for having CrossfireX issues. That's a pretty ridiculous argument nowadays imo.

Buys 1 Nvidia Card after 3 straight ATi\AMD cards -- Nvidia fanboy to the max.

Yep, just because you've had AMD cards before doesn't mean you're not an NVIDIA fanboy. People tends to promote what they currently have to justify their purchase. I'm glad you enjoyed your hardware, just don't be biased.
