And you thought 128 GB was too much data to put on a flash drive - even USB 3.0 at that? Wait till you see Transcend's latest flash drive developed in collaboration with Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), that claims to be able to hold no less than 2 terabytes (TB) of data! Called the Transcend Thin Card, the drive is about as long and broad as most USB 3.0 flash drives, but is just a little thicker than a Penny. Thin Card models will start at 16 GB in capacity, and will go all the way up to 2 TB. A Transcend representative told Tom's Hardware that an international standard for USB 3.0 thumb sticks has yet to be set, and so it's not been sold so far. Thumb sticks are flash drives that are thinner than the standard USB connector, and slide into common USB ports.

The title is somewhat misleading. It should say "can hold up to 2tb". Look at the youtube video, the one they presented only have 16gb storage :wtf: It's like telling your friends you have a porsche but you have a volkswagen beetle.

The title describes exactly what they did, develop a 2TB USB stick. It does not mention a youtube video of it now does it?

Apart from that, I'd love to see affordable flash storage that can compete with hard drives. So please offer these with SATA connectors for <€100.

Lol, they named it Transcend Thin Card. It's like they meet up for a coffee and said oh we should call it Transcend Thin Card. Yes, that's boring enough. If i'd release a 2TB USB drive these days i'd call it "Transcend THUMB MONSTER XXL 2TB USB Flash Drive". That would bring some attention.

Are you referring to the Porsche 914?

The drive is fake, there is no such thing. Was detailed already on Slashdot.

The format of the drive is extendable to 2tb. On the video it says "Actually the one that we looked at on display was only 16GB but the technology behind that particular 16GB stick is capable of scaling to 2 Terabytes." In other words they'll have to wait years for smaller manufacturing processes to occur before a 2 TB drive is made.

The news is as good as spam.

My bad, I guess I'm the only person here who checked the source link.

Yes title describes exactly what they did, but they only got 16gb version, for now, not 2tb. And I bet the "2tb goal" will be a loooooooong journey for them and will take a lot of years to manufacture one

Still a great news. Just a minor gripe with the title. oh well...

Are you referring to the Porsche 914?

I like that Porsche! Popup headlamps FTW!

It's like Richard Hammond once said for something similar as this. It's like saying: "I can fly like an eagle but i just can't be bothered."

i'd love see this goes on sale, but then the price would be ridiculous.
and imagine having 2tb usb stick full of data/files,and then lose it or you forgot where you put it.

Well USB3.0 had better speeds than eSATA and almost as fast as SATA 3.0. Also USB is found in absolutely any PC/laptops out there even the 2.0 one...

The title is somewhat misleading. It should say "can hold up to 2tb".

Agree. They don't have the 2TB drive just yet. Marketing BS.
Btw, Kingston already has 1TB drive, so I don't see why 2TB cannot be possible...

There are a lot, but more expensive than an SSD at the same size. No thanks...

It is now 2017 and I obtained one of these last year; a 2 TB Transcend USB stick for $15. I haven't used it much because I couldn't get it to work on my last laptop. On the latest one it does work. I don't know if the stated data storage is true but may of course be a pirated scam. The problem is too that it is USB1 speed only. Meaning 7 Mb/sec transfer. I will try to test it to see if more than 16 Gb capacity but will take a long time. Other than that the physical size and appearance is similar to any cheap plastic one such as Emtec.
