Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today announced availability of the Series 9 Premium Ultrabook with Full HD (1920x1080) resolution. The laptop is available now for an MSRP of $1,399.99.

Brilliant Screen Quality
In addition to Full HD resolution, the Series 9 features a Samsung SuperBright display (300 nit), making it up to twice as bright as standard notebook screens. The Series 9 reproduces up to 16 million colors, making it ideal for viewing photos and videos. The wide viewing angle and matte display allow users to appreciate the rich picture quality in all lighting conditions, both inside and out.

Striking Design
Weighing only 2.5 pounds and measuring just a half inch thin, the Series 9 can effortlessly be carried anywhere. The build is nearly seamless, using an aluminum single shell body and featuring the well-known Series 9 hallmark polished edge. Key components such as the display panel, keyboard, motherboard, cables, fans and battery have been customized with precision to fit into the Series 9's ultra-thin body. Additionally, the Series 9 has been sand-blasted for fingerprint resistance, keeping it pristine at all times.

Powerful Performance
Powerful internal components, including an Intel Core i7 processor and 128 GB SSD, ensure rapid startup and load times that enable users to access their content and applications nearly instantly.

The Series 9 features Samsung's Fast Solutions technology, allowing the laptop to boot in less than 10 seconds and resume from sleep nearly instantly, allowing users to rapidly pick up where they last left off.

The Series 9 also features an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset which, when combined with the Full HD screen, makes this the ultimate laptop for consuming multimedia.

For maximum on-the-go connectivity, the Series 9 offers up to 5.8 hours (Mobile Mark 2012) of battery life, so users can stay powered all day without needing to seek out a power source. The combination of Samsung's PowerPlus charging technology and an advanced Lithium-Polymer battery gives the Series 9 battery a lifespan that is up to three times longer than a conventional battery.

Availability
The Series 9 Premium Ultrabook with Full HD resolution is available now for an MSRP of $1399.99 through a variety of retail channels.

You got to love marketing departments..
Very interesting ultrabook though, curious to see how it compares to the zenbooks and the aspire S7.

Aesthetics aside. Anyway you slice it...this is a $500 laptop at a $1400 price tag. Nice resolution, but it will barely play any recent titles on medium settings. The ultrabook name started as a rip-off to consumers...and continues still.

Looking at 'actual' passmark scores from consumers...many are getting well under 2000 with the above specs.

What are you smoking? gaming? why should a piece of hardware be judged by %10 of its capabalities? You must own a major OEM company to know that the parts, R&D and packaging costs $500.
You must be part of the gang that wants GTX titans for $300 and 8 core xeons for $200.

1920x1080 at 13 inches? Where can I buy a monitor like that? It seems all the popular monitors pull 1920x1080 at 27 inches.

A ~$500 AMD Richland power laptop will deliver equal or better graphics performance than this way over-priced Intel powered laptop. The i7 just increase the price, not the actual system graphics performance.

It's sad that most people buy into the ad hype and never bother to do their homework. Marketeers know full well that the majority of consumers are just technically challenged, lazy sheeple.

That i7 is a dual core BTW. And I think he was talking about the premium you pay to have a thin laptop, the specs however are meh.

Speaking of which where are all the Richland based laptops? o_O
Even Trinity based ones are hard to find here, take the A10-4600M for instance only 3 models available here Acer Aspire V3, Asus N56DP and MSI GX60.
Are there simply not more released or am I borked cause I live in the Netherlands?

There is no AMD Richland laptop available yet so I don't know where you get the price. Furthermore this Samsung has other things than the processor which make the price as it is (1080p and storage SSD). This is not a gaming laptop as I'm sure you understood.

The Series 5 530U4E much better deal with Radeon 8750M 2GB GPU and usually priced under 700 Euro.

Depends mostly if you are OK with the much lower resolution (and probably screen quality).

That being said the price of this laptop and others from the same category is one of the reasons the PC market is crumbling.

Put Haswell in this, 8Gb of RAM and a 256gb SSD and I might consider buying it.
