Arctic announced the Alpine 20 Plus CO, a low-profile CPU cooler specifically designed for socket LGA2011. It could provide an inexpensive air-cooling option for Core i7 LGA2011 desktops, and Xeon LGA2011 workstations. The cooler is a fan-heatsink, with a dense aluminum heatsink being ventilated by a 92 mm PWM-controlled fan, which spins at speeds of 600-2,200 RPM. The cooler measures 99 mm x 95 mm x 80 mm (LxWxH), weighing about 440 g. Backed by a six-year warranty, the Alpine 20 Plus CO is priced at 14.50?.

Big mistake

Big mistake selling a cheap air cooler to an audience that has a lot of money.

I would expect it to cool just better than stock and be quieter. If it wasn't at least one of those I just don't think it would be out for sale.

The heatsink/fan I have now cost about that much, and I'm happy with it.

Especially one that prolly wont cool better than stock

For your consideration, here is a photo of the stock boxed cooler that comes with 2011 CPUs

Now you tell me, which one do you think will cool the CPU better?

There is no stock cooler for 2011. If you were rolling out hundreds of systems based on this CPU you would want to find the cheapest possible aftermarket solution, this is a viable option from a well known manufacturer, and if it's comes in cheaper than Intel's own aftermarket cooler for 2011, system builders will buy this instead.

afaik there is a pretty cool deepcool low profile 120mm cooler for 10$. that already performs better than intel stock.

and, its true, if someone has enough money to buy an over expensive 2011 socket CPU, they can shell out 25$ for atleast a Hyper 212 evo

I suppose these fit better into servers than CM tower coolers.

servers need much better failsafe cooling. these wont last a long time without care.

also servers are placed in stacks, which means they must work with higher ambient temps. thats why most server coolers are low profile copper ones with noisy blower fans!

oh, you mean like this one:

yes. i have found some good server stuff in second hand junk markets :)

Guess you missed the  at the end of my post? Also guessing that English is not your native language ;)

Do you put bargain tires on your sports car?
