SanDisk Announces New Fast, Versatile and Sleek USB Flash Drives

I don't know why they keep releasing USB3 flash drives that are slower than previous generations (such as the Extreme). I guess most people buy a flash drive for the way it looks, not the way it performs. I'm waiting for a drive that can saturate the USB 3.0 interface (essentially a miniature external SSD) and is generally available for a reasonable price. Sandisk has the facilities, knowledge and worldwide distribution model to accomplish that, but I suppose the demand is still limited for such drives, and it wouldn't be profitable yet to do so.

Yeah ive been looking around and ended up buying this one(Patriot Supersonic Magnum 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive...) as it was decent price vs performance it offered. Really interested to see if Sandisk can try to max out the USB3.0 interface.

Extreme is actually their first series of miniature external SSDs. Its core is a Sandisk U100 SSD, so 4k read/write is pretty low, but fits the price tag well.

I'm expecting a new mini SSD series from Sandisk that use their Ultra Plus SSD line as the core, since Ultra Plus SSD models already have a tiny board.

I got my 32 GB Extreme for $29 at CompUSA, which is about the same price as the 16 GB (I think they screwed up, next week it was back up to $59). I almost bought the 64 GB Extreme when it was on sale for $69, but I read their website user reviews in the store, and too many people were having problems with the 64 GB model, so I changed my mind (now they're $92).
