Japanese peripherals maker I-O Data announced the LCD-MF272CGBR, a new 27-inch monitor. Featuring an AH-IPS panel with LED backlighting, it offers a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels (WQHD), 178°/178° viewing angles, response time as low as 6.5 ms, and as high as 12.4 ms, 440 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 1,000:1 static contrast ratio. The panel features a contiguous piano-black front that makes it appear bezel-free, a matte-black rear, and a brushed aluminum stand that gives you basic tilt adjustments. It can be removed to reveal VESA wall mounts. Display inputs include dual-link DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI, and D-Sub. Measuring 650 x 240 x 200 mm (WxDxH), it weighs a little over 7 kg. Slated for late-July, it's expected to go for 79,800 JPY (US $800).

I am not a big expert on monitors,so according to the information given here: is this monitor going to have good image quality? because i might be compelled to fork out 800$ for this.

There is the ASUS PB278Q which is $650. Same 2560x1440, or like the Korea ones you see for $300-400 (With less features)

The Asus is a PLS panel, while this one is AH-IPS. I'm not sure on the quality of the panels between the two but AH-IPS is currently the superior of the IPS panels.

This is definatley better looking than the Asus PB278Q, plus the AH-IPS panel, worth the extra $$ imo. Only downer is the glossy display. I hate glossy displays, it's like having a mirror on ya desk.

Does anyone know if the 1,000:1 static contrast ratio good or better equivalent to the 50,000:1 or so ratios on lcds?

The product looks quality but I want to see this bezel-free look, hopefully when it arrives in the coming weeks.

it looks upon first glance that the bezel is no smaller than other LCD/IPS monitors but is flush with the screen kind of like mobiles (cell phones) screens to make it look seamless.

Still $800 seems steep, I wonder if the seamless bezel and AH-IPS panel are worth the extra cost over similar 27" 1440p monitors that are quite a bit cheaper than this.

I'm glad to see more manufacturers entering the 2560 x 1440 pixels (WQHD) market. We need more output, lower prices, all win. But I'm still waiting for 2560 x 1440 pixels or x1600 or x1880 in a SMALLER FORMAT. My desk space limits me to circa 23". Let's see 2560 x 1440 pixels (WQHD) in 21" or smaller. Let's start seeing retina density.

If you're referring to the contrast of an IPS panel versus a TFT LCD panel, the IPS blows it away. If you set them side by side pretty much the first thing you notice is the superior contrast the IPS has.

Well considering the fact that catleaps are selling now for 335$ shipped i dont think this will be worth it for me.
This one is an AH-IPS monitor compared to the S-IPS of the catleap and also has a really thin bezel but i dont think thats worth 465$ (and thats if the shipping is free).

id bet money that the 50k:1 ratio is dynamic not actual like the 1k:1. Find out the actual contrast ratio

the 50K:1 is actually a bit of cheating. The panel controls the back light.

you should be able to find screen reviews by looking through LG monitors. LG have a 2 tiered manufacture program. LG factory panels are a higher quality than the other factory they use.

I've also noticed a lot of the lower end IPS LG screens appearing in multiple manufacturer options. The old LG was the LG ips277-l. It's a 1080p 27" bezel free screen, but asus also have a panel that is almost identical, Whereas the original LG model is now discontinued.

Never seen a monitor getting a review on TPU,it could be possible if they send over a sample.

Just the opposite for me as I want a bigger display,...

I'm looking at something like the Seiki 39'' 4K Ultra HDTV SE39UY04. A quasi 40" that will do 3840x2160 @ 30Hz for ~$699 USD. Presumably the SE50UY04 will do 2560x1440 @ 80Hz:

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1756171&page=6

Hopefully the SE39UY04 can do the same at roughly half the price. For my use 3840x2160 @ 30Hz for typical desktop applications should be fine and 2560x1440 @ 60Hz or even lower resolution for anything more demanding should be fine.

Amazon has the Seiki SE39UY04 listed too,.....
