Misleading name is misleading.
I though the number 50 represents the size of sound driver used.

Er no...
As tech enthusiasts we pretty much like to be anti pop culture because for some reason we believe it's cool. Regardless. Dr.Dre didn't' make any headphones, the deal between him and Monster was a branding and marketing one, not RnD. Nothing changed about Monster headsets from what they had before. The branding/marketing exercise simply enticed more people to buy higher end cans that's all.

I'm not sure they're higher end cans, as no DJ in my town or the surrounding area in places like Lincoln use them, and they outright refuse to use them.

Umm they sucked before they suck now and they will continue to suck. They sound like someone took a normal set of headphones and just added garbage subwoofers.

Most gaming headphones and just regular ones people use are not $200 USD or more, they are usually less than $100, so yeah these would qualify as higher end headphones. Nobody said they were great, they are not going to compete with those audiophile headphones, but they may provide better audio than $100 headphones.
It's the Dr.Dre made... rhetoric that I don't agree with. It's not true, he didn't make anything. Neither did 50 with SMS audio. It's amazing though how critical we are of these headphones when the vast majority of gaming headphones are absolute rubbish.

They also doubled the price of those cans because of the branding. $200 beats have good sound quality for sure, but they only match the $100 offerings of most competitors.

My problem is not with the image or branding, it's with the price for the performance you get.

That's a bold faced lie. There are more than a dozen different set of headphones between $50 and $150 that offer substantially better sound quality than beats. It sounds like you own a pair and are defending them. They suck get over it.
