ASUS posted official BIOS updates for its socket LGA2011 motherboards, that let them support Intel Core i7 "Ivy Bridge-E" processors. The updates can be installed either using an old LGA2011 processor, or using ASUS USB BIOS Flashback, in the absence of an older processor. For ASUS' mainline P9X79 series, "Ivy Bridge-E" support is lent by BIOS version number 4301. The P9X79 series includes P9X79 LE, P9X79, P9X79 Pro, and P9X79 Deluxe. For ROG Rampage IV Extreme and Rampage IV Gene, it's version 4401, and for ROG Rampage IV Formula, it's 4402. For TUF Sabertooth X79 it's version 4309. Get your corresponding BIOS file here.

Wonder why the X79 IVBE updates are so late compered to P67\Z68's IVB updates. We're just a couple of weeks before launch

My P9X79 Deluxe has had a number of BIOS updates lately that are labelled as having "added CPU support" but they didn't actually add anything to the CPU support list. I suspect that they've been working on it for a while and just recently got to a point where the changes they've made to support it have been finalized enough to say that it supports IVB-E.

We shall see. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Does this mean there won't be new versions of X79 motherboards coming out with IVBE?

I guess we would have heard by now if there were.

The P9X79 Deluxe was discontinued. I'm not sure if that means too much. A new skt2011 flagship could be nice for Asus' non-ROG boards, even if it's still based off of X79 despite everyone's complaints.

No it simply means your X79 motherboard isn't junk. Intel is going to rebadge Z87 for the LGA2011 platform.

When did that happen? This is the first I've heard of that.

Latest Official Bios?

Not sure if i'm missing something but the latest bios for the P9X79 Pro on the Asus site is 4210 and not 4301 as listed in the article and download link? Possibly a beta bios? 4210 also lists "Support Intel IVB-E series CPU."
