G.SKILL International Co. Ltd., the leading high-performance memory designer and manufacturer, announced to participate this year's Intel Developer Forum at San Francisco as part of Intel's memory community at booth no. 165, displaying maximum DDR3 memory frequency & capacity on the new Intel Core i7 processor family for socket LGA-2011 platform, also sharing plans for future technology such as DDR4. "As this is our first time attending IDF, we are very excited to show our high performance quad channel DDR3 memory and also announce our plans for DDR4," said Mark Yu, Technical Marketing at G.SKILL.

While DDR4 frequencies will be a little higher, they will be of marginal value for typical desktop PCs as DDR3 @ 1600 MHz. is not a system bottleneck. DDR4 is primarily designed for server use as the topology is different. It will be expensive as you must install all of the RAM you desire from the get go as there is no adding DDR4 RAM in the future as can be done with all DDR RAM prior to DDR4.

Showing that a CPU can use faster RAM doesn't mean that you will actually see a tangible improvement in typical desktop system performance, as many tests with real apps has proven.

What ? As i read in the wiki the change in the topology is that the dimms will be as many as the channels and the parallelism will be done not in the connector but in the controller. And so there will be switching memory banks on the fly for the servers, like PCI-E devices and SATA disks. If I got it wrong please correct.
