HP Releases the EliteDisplay E221c IPS Monitor

HP has this week introduced a new 'built-for-business' monitor, the EliteDisplay E221c. This model features a 21.5-inch IPS (in-plane switching) panel, an LED backlight, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 7 ms (gray-to-gray) response time, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, VGA, DVI and DisplayPort connectors, and a stand allowing for tilt, swivel, pivot and 150 mm height adjustment.

HP's monitor also comes with built-in (rear firing) speakers, a 720p webcam with dual microphones, and a 2-port USB hub. The EliteDisplay E221c has a three-year warranty and costs $219.

I'm really happy to see IPS getting down toward $200.

I'm really sad to see "consumer x1080" resolutions pretending to be "business". No. Business is about documents, and documents need "y". Lists, emails, PDFs, Word docs, spreadsheets, drawings, we need y!!!

960 x 1080 makes for awesome document viewing, about 85% of the page fits on the screen, and you can view two at the same time!

Agreed on this monitor, but not on all 16:9 monitors. It is perfectly readable on a 23"+ screen.

If I was buying a monitor in this price range with a 1080p resolution I'd go with LG 27EC33V-B Black 27" or Lenovo LI2721SW 27".

But I'll tell you, I've been really tempted to pick up one of these bad boys: 27" Yamakasi DS270 SE IPS LED 2560x1440 AH-IPS Ult...
