Iiyama Announces the ProLite XB2483HSU 24-Inch Monitor

Iiyama Japan has today unveiled a new ProLite Series monitor, a 24-inch model known as XB2483HSU. Seen below, the display makes use of an AMVA+ panel with 178/178-degree viewing angles, and features LED backlighting, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a response time of 4 ms (G2G), a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 (dynamic contrast ratio is 5,000,000:1), and VGA, DVI and HDMI connectors.

Iiyama's monitor also comes with two built-in 2 W speakers, a 2-port USB hub, and has a stand that allows for swivel, pivot, tilt and height adjustment. The ProLite XB2483HSU is backed by a three-year warranty and costs 27,800 yen (~ 280 USD).

only benq can make MVA right? (samsung is PVA), have they improved the tech compared to some years ago? why bother when certain types of IPS are dropping down to near TN prices?

i've been on MVA since 2008, it's alright, certainly doesnt get irritating like TN, but there are still some issues & lately i am seeing burn-in when using cinema4d

No, lots of manufacturers have MVA monitors, including Samsung.

TN is still cheaper and it's miles better than it used to be, so for the near future it will probably stay.
IPS has a few different flavors now and I believe NEC has the strongest with their H- technology.

The problem IPS enthusiasts face is that panel production lines in most of those factories, are geared for 16:9 format, led edge lit or white led backlighting(as opposed to 16:10, full RGB back lit) in order to share build turnover with televisions.

Fortunately Iiyama and Eizo are keeping in line with some enthusiast's desires by embracing more IPS. A little birdie has informed me that Eizo are preparing a 30" IPS panel to take the top spot from the other 30" in the market. This will include H-IPS similar technology, full RGB back light, 16:10 format, a complete OSD, no scaler and be lower on energy than most 22" TN.

Whether they can pull that off within the next year we'll see.
If their recent 27" is anything to go by, it may happen.
