If with great power comes great responsibility then definitely with new graphics cards come brand new drivers. Enter the AMD Radeon R9 and R7 Series cards and the first (publicly-available) driver to support them, the Catalyst 13.11. Still in beta mode, this fresh Catalyst works with the Radeon R9 280X, R9 270X, R7 260X, R7 250 and R7 240, as well as the Radeon HD 7000, HD 6000 and HD 5000 Series cards.

The Catalyst 13.11 Beta (V1) is supposed to feature some fixes, plus improvements for Battlefield 4 as well as for TESV: Skyrim and Total War: Rome 2. To download the driver just click on the links below.

These drivers improved Minecraft performance on my nehpew's AMD APU build. Not even sure if I am supposed to download drivers for APU's but I do on his just to check, it seems to help so I don't know. :toast:

How do you measure MC performance that accurate? Sometimes a simple restart is enough to get different fps values on the very same spot (or you mean it's like +15fps?).

So, i'll just force install R9-280 drivers and voila, free upgrade to a "new graphic card". It will say "Radeon R9-280" in all apps and performance will be there since i own the "old" HD7950.

Will it fix the frame latency crossfire issues in resolutions above 2560x1600 ?

What are the fixes/improvements exactly? It just says it supports the new cards on the AMD website. I'm very wary of any new software releases when any kind of new hardware is involved.

The only thing I can complain about is that Gpu2 in cfx sits at 99% all the time by default. I disable ulps now, but it's just a little quirk.

Otherwise, everything is solid ;)

Yup I didn't see that till you pointed it out.. It's doing the same thing here :wtf:

Only with a web page it maxes out, but the other drivers did the same thing... but it was never 100%

Yes, every since these beta drivers came out to fix frame pacing, I've had this little issue. I didn't back with like 13.4ish, but is not too bit of a deal reslly, simple fix.

how do you fix it? I hate opening FF and have the 2nd gpu at full power and then the fan gets louder n louder for the temp build up.

Disabling ULPS fixes that. You can do it manually in the registry, or MSI AB and Trixx have an option to do it for you, in the he settings. Reboot after that and you're good :)

I found a program to disable ULPS and it works fine..But Now ulps is enabled and the highest the 2nd card goes is 300mhz in my browser. It seemed to fix the max clock on the second card of 1010MHz :D
before you run it disable your antivirus otherwise the AV goes into threat mode, well Avast does anyways, and not sure how others behave.

Grab it HERE

If i open CCC and look at the data for the second "card" (7990) with no other tool running, it shows me "0" everywhere, like it should be.

When opening GPU-Z (for example) while i still have CCC open, everything goes up to full load on the second core.

Can anyone confirm that it only happens when you start a "monitoring tool"

Seems like ULPS doesnt work if you have such a tool running
