22 SATA ports? That is bat f**k insane. Is there even a CASE that can support that many SATA devices?

Probably,......

Ive seen cases with 21, 3.5" hot-swap bays. I'm guessing the have cases with more,....

Because the performance gained by DDR4 will likely be negligible considering that there are nearly no gains over DDR3 1866 in the first place (in most apps and nearly all games)? Maybe?

I'm sure that was said about DDR3. One thing you can count on, software will quickly use the hardware's capability once it is main stream, efficiently or not.

ddr3 still isn't a bottleneck in the vaaaaaaast majority of situations... So, I will disagree with that sentiment.

I believe that history is a good enough indicator to suggest that you are likely right.

Why?

There simply aren't enough PCI Express lanes on that board to handle all the hardware at any kind of sensible rate...

I think far as the SATA ports are concerned, it comes down to the LSI 3008 handling RAID duties so if properly RAIDed (pardon me for verbing my nouns) then none of those 16 ports should need to communicate with the CPU directly. Since only the finalized reads sans parity or interleaving info will be communicated to the CPU, then 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes should be plenty for 16 ports.

Worst case, then PCIe 3.0 8 lanes mean you have 4GT/s, or about 492MB/s bandwidth for each SATA port. Not quite ideal, but still "sensible", I might think. It's only slightly below the peak transfer rate we see for SATA 6Gbps.
